blocked airway can kill someone in three to four
minutes, but it can take more
than eight
minutes for an ambulance to arrive. So a simple
procedure such as opening
someone's airway can
save their life while they're waiting for
emergency medical help.
Knowing what to do
will allow you to react rapidly if an accident
does happen. However,
there are also many
misconceptions(误解) surrounding first aid，some of
which can
cause more serious harm.

you can't move a limb, it must be broken. If you
can move a limb，it can't
be broken. The only

It is difficult for doctors to
help a person with a damaged brain. Without enough
blood, the brain lives for only three to five
minutes. More often the doctors can't
fix the
damage. Sometimes they are afraid to try something
to help because it is
dangerous to work on the
brain. The doctors might make the person worse if

Dr Robert White,
