状语从句有九大类：
分别可表示：时间、地点、原因、 结果、目的、条件、让步、比较、方式。尽管数目较多，但理解
并不困难。
状语从句的本质：
状语从句就是用不同的连接词将几个分句连接起来，以表示分句之间特定的逻辑关系。所以，掌握
引导九类状语从句的有关连接词的用法是学习状语从句的关键。下面我们按类型来学习各种状语从句。
时间状语从句之知识清单
一．认识连接词
时间状语从句的常见引导词：when, while, as , before ,after ,since , till, until, as soon
as
时间状语从句的特殊引导词：（一??就??）
1.一些时间名词：the moment, the instant, the minute, the second;
2.一些副词：instantly, immediately, directly
3.固定搭配的连词：no sooner---than, hardly--- when, scarcely---when
二．连接词分类讲解
+短暂动词
1）意思相当于： (在--- 时刻时候)，从句中的谓语动词通常是短暂性动词，表示某一时刻的动作。例
如：
a. I’ll speak to him when he arrives
b.I’ll tell him about it when he comes back.
I arrived , he was talking on the phone.
I got there, he had already left.
从句也可接延续动词，这时从句往往用过去进行时表示某一段时间内发生的动作。在------期间。
doorbell rang when I was telephoning.
2)whenever也可引导时间状语从句
er someone asks you something you don’t want to answer, smile and ask”why do you
want to know?”

whenever you pick up the phone, for the caller will be able to notice it.
3）when的常见的三个句型：
A．be about to do sth when---
I was about to go out when someone came.
B. waswere doing sth when---
I was doing my homework when my good friend, Xiaoming, came.
C. had done sth when---
I had finished my homework when my good friend, Xiaoming, came.
D.I was walking along the road suddenly someone patted me on the shoulder from behind.
A. immediately B. when moment
+延续性动词
意思相当于： (在--- 期间)，表示某一时间内发生的动作，因此，从句谓语动词通常接延续性动词。
phone rang while I was taking my bath.
door bell rang while we were watching TV.

1)当主句谓语动词是延续性谓语动词时，通常用肯定形式。例如：
until he comes back.
’ll stay here till it stops raining
I came back ,he was waiting for me at my home..
2)若主句谓语动词是短暂性动词，则要用否定形式。这就是说的“not--- until---(直到---才---)”的
结构。例如：
a. I did not realize how special my mother was until I became an adult.
b. One will never realize how much and how little he knows until he starts talking.
c. Ice cream did not reach American until about the middle of the eighteenth century.
d. I didn’t go to bed until 12 o’clock last night.
3)”not---until---”有四种不同的句式。
A.正常结构：
a. The little boy didn’t smile until he saw his mother.
b. The exact time of dying was not of great importance until recently.
置于句首
a. Until he saw his mother, the little boy didn’t smile.

b. Until recently the exact time of dying was not of great importance.
C.倒装结构：
a. Not until he saw his mother did the little boy smile.
b. Not until recently was the exact time of dying of great importance.
D.强调结构：
a. It was not until he saw his mother that the little boy smiled.
b. It was not until recently that the exact time of dying was of great importance.
基本结构：it is+被强调成分+that??
常见的被强调的成分：主语，宾语，表语，状语，包括各自相应的从句。
强调方法：强调什么成分，就把什么成分放在that前面，其他成分不动。
I met Liyan in the street yesterday.
It was me that met Liyan in the street yesterday.
It was Liyan that I met in the street yesterday.
It was in the street that I met Liyan yesterday.
It was yesterday that I met Liyan in the street.
What you said is right.
It is you said is right.
I don’t know what you said .
It is what you said that I don’t know.
The fact is that he often walks here.
It is that he often walks here that the fact is .
Put the book where you can see it.
It is where you can see it that you put the book.
He came late this morning because he stayed up late last night.
It is because he stayed up late last night that he came late.
The school where you are studying has been fined .

★强调not??until??句型
The little boy didn’t smile until he saw his mother.
方法：把not放在until前面，然后与until从句一块再放在that前面 。主句谓语动词在用相应的时

态表达出来。
It was not until he saw his mother that the little boy smiled.
★强调特殊疑问词。
Where did you go yesterday?
方法：把特殊疑问词放在最前面，然后采用疑问语序，原句则改为陈述语序。即 构成句型：特殊疑问词
+iswas it that 主+谓
Where was it that you went yesterday?
谓语动词的强调：
方法：一般只强调 一般现在时与一般过去时的谓语动词，所借助的是主动词do、does、did，助动词后
用动词原形 。
Yesterday I came here along.
Yesterday I did come here along.
He go home by bike everyday.
He does go home by bike everyday.
4.表示“一---就---”
表示“一---就---”的连词有：
1）as soon as ,
the moment, the minute, the instant, the second,
immediately, directly, instantly.这些连词的用法和句式结构是一样的。
will leave as soon as it stops raining.
began to rain as soon asthe momentthe second the instantthe minute immediately,
directlyinstantly I arrived home.

2)hardlyscarcely---when---, no sooner ---than---。主句
多用过去完成时，且常倒装， 从句用一
般过去时
。它与as soon as 等的从句、主句互换。
a. No sooner had I arrived home than it began to rain.
b. HardlyScarcely had I arrived home when it began to rain.
c. No sooner had we begun having dinner than the doorbell rang.
d. I had hardlyscarcely arrived home when it began to rain.(考查方式同上，仅仅语序不倒装)

5.表示时间的短语引导的时间状语从句
有一些表示时间的短语也可当作连词来用，引导时间状语从句：
next time, by the time , every time ,each time,
the day, the week 等。
★The time 不可以当引导词。The first time可当引导词，但 for the first time 不行。
a. The day he returned , his father was already dead.
b. Next time you come, remember to bring along your sister.
c. Every time I listen to your advice, I get into trouble.
d. In the classic children’s tale, the puppet([p?pit]n.木偶, 玩偶) Pinocchio’s nose grows
longer every time he tells a lie.
关注：by the time
By the time意思是“在---之前或到------ 时候”，强调的是“一个动作在另外一个动作之前已经完成”，
因此，by the time后边接从句，而与其搭配的主句要用完成时态。注意下句时态搭配：
By the time 与两种完成时搭配
a. By the time they arrived, we had 从句中arrived表示过去动作，对应的主
already left.那天他们到的时候，我们已句用过去完成时。
经走了。
b. By the time they arrive, we will have 从句中arrive表示将来的动作，对应的主
already left.一会等他们来的时候，我们句用将来完成时。
就将离开了。
6.区分since,before,after
① 后接段时间，用一般过去时。eg. The baby stopped crying after half an hour.
after
② 后接点时间，用一般将来时。 will visit their teacher after Friday.

before 从句是高考中的一大热点，注意它的含义：
①表示某动作要经过多久才会发生，此时动作指的是从句动作。
will be two years before we graduate from this school.
The American Civil War lasted four years before the North won in the end
②表示某动作在另一动作发生之前就发生了。一般主句动作在前，从句动作在后。

注意：
在包含before和after的复合句中，因为从句动作和主句动作发生的先后顺序已经非常明 确，可以用一般过去时代替
过去完成时。
翻译规律：
在肯定句中一般翻译成“?（ 主句的动作）才?（从句的动作）”，如①；或“还没有?（从句的动作）
就?（主句的动作）”，如题 ②。
since 注意since的两大含义：
表示自---以后；从--- 以来（多与完成时连用）从句多用一般过去时。
