到这里，该有人说了，你这翻得什么玩意啊，敢拿去考试吗！别着急，可 不要小看这一
步，最起码，它实现了翻译最基本的功能——达意。很多人在刚刚开始的时候往往忽视这一
点，以为拽几个大词就是好翻译，请记住，达意是翻译的基础。

3.好的，下 面我们来“精修”。在这一布中主要实现的是表情功能，具体来说有两方面，
一是优化语言，二是加强连 贯。

一句一句来。

第一句。“雨声渐渐的住了”请注意，这 里是“声”，并不简单的是雨停了。所以用个拟
声词即可达到效果。The rain gradually stopped to patter。千万不要翻成什么
The sound of the rain stopped。要牢记中心意思是雨停了。若果觉得stop没技
上就不复 存在了。但很可能这些种子恰恰含有我们十年之后所需要的基因。”

术含量可 以换成cease。这俩分句我们可以给连起来，把前面半句作伴随状语。而后面那
句的精华在“透”这 个字上，应当找一个传神的英语动词，filter滤镜这个词刚好能够传神。
至于“清光”怎么翻就不 用在意啦，老外也不懂，而且filter这个词已经能传递这个意思
啦。因此第一句话完整的就是

第二句。原文有点长，可按意思拆成两句。没啥好说的。很简单。I opened the window
and looked out.

往下。“凉云”其实就是乌云的别称，不翻出来也没关系。The clouds had
disap pearedvanished.(注意时态)。接下来我们在刚才译文的基础上稍加修饰即可。

赞美的形容词都可)under the moonlight like thousands (都是虚指，可以换成
countless,再文一点可以换成myriads) of fireflies. 这里灵活一点，就不用非得
纠结是萤火虫还是萤火虫的光了……

最后一句。注意这里的感叹语气。一般来说，像“谁能想到”“哪里想到”“真没想到”这
种表达，英文里有对应的，叫To think that……

这句话可以搞成To think that I could see such a beautiful sight
afterthe miserable rain in a lonely night！(孤灯其实就是孤独的夜晚，直
接翻孤灯反而会显得奇怪。)

不想用主动语态，还可以搞成物作主语，更形象一点。

To think that there shouldappear before my eyes such a beautiful

看到这句话，先别急着下笔，要不然翻完铁定很惨，我们先来看一下这个句子的结构。

这句话可以分成两个句群，以“这时”为分界点。

先看前半句。

不难看出“久不回信”“屡不回信”导致了接信之乐减少甚至没有。因果关系的句子，我
们可以有很多种安排。

比如：If you don`t…, the pleasure of receiving letters will
definitely…

这样安排句式中规中矩，绝对没有问题。

我们把它补全了。久 不回信强调时间，就是不即时，屡不回信是说频率，就是不经常。
“相对减少以至于无”就是“越来越少 ，甚至没有”（这里依旧运用了昨儿说的白话过渡法，
详见帖子《一招教你搞定散文中译英》）

补全了就是

上面说了，这句话是因果关系，既然是因果关系就肯定还有别的巨型。

比如，“久不回信、屡不回信”(A)的必然结果就是“乐的减少或没有”(B)。

就是B is the inevitable consequence of A.

如果用这个巨型就要考虑到B和A就必须要搞成名词或者动名词。

说到这儿，诸位看官，想去啥来了没？

是不是曾经看过“汉语喜欢用动词，英文喜欢用名词、介词？”

正好用上，我们所需要做的就是把“久不回信、屡不回信”和“乐的减少或没有”搞成名
词。

上文已经用白话过渡法分析过意思了。

下面一一对应就好。

久不回信——delaying，tardiness， procrastination（“拖延”）

屡不回信——infrequently

减少——reduction，decrease

没有——其实就是停止——cessation， halt

钢筋搭好，开始盖房。

终于到下半句了，“这时，友情便暂告中断了，直到有一天在赎罪的心情下，你毅然回

这个看起来还蛮容易的，直接翻翻试试。

比break up好，查词典便可知，breakoff 是discontinue talks or

(这些词汇都是应该掌握的，不认识的同志们需要背背单词了)

参考译文更拽一点，把in repentance 换成in sackcloth andashes,来表示赎
罪的心情。这个短语真没见过，全当学习了，不用丝毫不影响。

把determinedly换成summon up willpower来表示毅然，个人觉得一个副词挺
好的。

把pick pen to write back换成put pento paper again来说回信，这个比
较牛逼，我水平不够，还不会用metonymy 翻译。膜拜一下译者。

两个句子可以合起来了，如果不愿机械合在一起，也可以用个定语从句套一下。

这段重点在前半句，后半句咱不这么拽也没关系。

码了这么多字来分析这么一句话，目 的只有一个，我们需要训练自己分析文本的能力，
练多了才能熟能生巧，看一眼便句从心出。

我的老师曾告诉我Practice does not make perfect, only perfect
practicemakes perfect. 因此不能盲目练习，应该找准自己的不足，perfect our
practiceand the make perfect.
