Title: The chart compares the resources used to make 1,000 disposable cups in different
materials: polystyrene and paper

The bar chart shows the contrast of material source differences between making 1000 disposable
polystyrene and paper cups.

It is noticeable that paper cups consume a lot of timber, which is a huge waste of the natural
resources. By contrast, the main consumption for making polystyrene cups is steam, so it will
save plenty of precious forest resources.

By further comparison, we can find that both kinds of cups’ manufacturing need electricity and
water, the same as other products’ necessity. Nevertheless, every 1000 polystyrene cups just
require 6 kilowatt power and 0.06 ton water, compared with the other ones’ 54 kilowatt and 0.85
ton water, so the former ones are only 1/9 and 1/7 as much as the latter ones in the aspects of
