What do you think is the most serious challenge of living in a
big city?
With the development of economy, the speed of urbanization of our
country is faster and faster. The area of cities is larger and larger.
More and more people crowd into cities, resulting in larger and
larger population of citcities. The abundance of consumer goods in
big city indeed bring us much convenience. However, there are also
many challenges and pressures living in a big city. Such as crowded
transport, dirty air, noisy street and so on. Among these challenges, I
believe, the most serious one is the tense pace of life. To get enough
consumer goods and live a happy life, We have to work every day to
make money. We get up early in the morning and go to work in a
hurry even no time to have breakfast. After a day
,
s busy work, we go
home at night and go to sleep. We spend half of our time to work
even forget to stop to enjoy our life. Sometimes I think that we are so
stupid to devote ourselves to work and forget the purpose we work
for. But most of time, we have to do so. So that is the reason for my
view.
Say something about the impact of horror films on young
children.
When it comes to horror films, opinions vary from person to person.
It is the same to young children. I believe horror films have both
positive and negative impact on young children, the point depend on
the attitudes of children on horror films. Horror films indeed excite
us greatly compared with other films. For children like horror films,
watching horror films is an interesting adventure. Kids who always
watch horror films would have more curiosity on the world and life.
This results that children watching horror films have the spirit of
exploration and innovation. However, for those timid and do not like
horror films, watching horror films may make them have nightmares.
What is worse, it may lead to psychological illness and make them
more timid, resulting them afraid of trying unfamiliar things. So it is
concluded that if children like horror films, they are admitted to
watch them, if they do not like, do not force them to watch.
What factors influence you most in your choice of a job?
With the increasing of population of our country and the
diversification of economy, it is becoming more and more difficult for
our young to find a satisfactory job. Too many factors affect us to

make a decision when we look for a job. Such as the salary, the
working place, the working content and so on. Among these factors
related to our job, I think the most important one is the working
content. Imagine that you have a job which has a high pay but you do
not like. You have to spend half of your time of one day to do it, what
a painful thing it will be. That means you will be unhappy half of
your day. So what we make so much money for? Does not we work
for living a happy life? However, we make a lot of money but lose
happiness. How ridiculous it is! So, in my opinion, the most
important factor is working content when I chose a job.
How would you prepare for a job interview?
As we all know, with the population of graduates increasing year by
year, the pressure of the young to find a satisfactory job is bigger and
bigger. Because of the fierce competition, it is becoming more and
more difficult for the young to get a job. So it is important to make
full preparations before we attend a job interview. First of all, we
should collect lots of information of the job we apply and have
enough understanding about it. besides, we can learn some
background information of the company we apply, which shows we
have a real interest in the position. Then we should prepare some
questions which may occur in the interview and make us look more
confident. Last but not least, we should dress ourselves properly to
leave a good impression to the interviewer. After all, a neat dressing
indicates we attach great importance to the interview.
Do you think it is desirable to have a job in the same city
where your parents live? Give your reasons, please.
As we all know, there are too many factors to be considered when we
look for a job. The working place is one of these. Although some
young people oppose to live in the same city with their parents for
independence, I believe most young men are willing to live in the
same city with their parents if other condition is acceptable. It is
desirable to have a job in the same city where our parents live. It can
bring us too much convenience to live in the same city with our
parents. On the one hand, it is convenient for us to see our parents
when we are free. Our parents are old and they need our company to
relieve their aloneness. Once they fall ill, we can send them to
hospital quickly and look after them carefully. On the other hand, we
can get some advices from them when we encounter some trouble

because they are experienced. So I think it is desirable to have a job
in the same city where our parents live.



Some people say that we live in a TV culture. Do you agree?
Give your reasons for your answer.
As we all know, with the improvement of society, the media industry
is more and more developed. TV is one of the popular methods of
these media. The information spreading through TV is influencing
our life constantly. We can know some incident happened far away
from us timely. We can entertain ourselves through watching TV
show. The TV advertisements even influence our consumption. We
have to admit that TV is indeed influencing our life greatly. So some
people say that we live in a TV culture. However, I only agree to this
view partly. Because there is a greater force exists, that is internet.
We all know internet. It has more informations, faster speed, freer
choices than TV, and it is becoming more and more popular among
people, especially the young. We can also use internet to do many
things that TV can not. TV is backward compared with internet. So I
believe we are living in an internet culture instead of TV culture.
Do you think private cars should be encouraged?
With the development of economy, people are becoming richer and
richer. To make our trip convenient, more and more people consider
buying a car for themselves. However, Things are not as simple as we
think. With the increasing of cars, a series of problems occurred.
First，the traffic is not as convenient as we thought. Too many cars on
the road often result in traffic jams, which make us have to spend
almost half of our time on road for waiting. In addition, too many
cars will lead to environmental problems. As we all know, air
pollution has become a serious environmental problem of our
country now. One of the reason is Automobile exhaust.
Environmental pollution will bring chronic harm to our health. So I
think private cars should not be encouraged and we should go out by
public transit or by bike.
Why do you think some Western countries encourage people
to ride bicycles?
As we all know, environmental problems have attracted more and

more people’s attention, especially in developed countries, people’s
environmental awareness is strong. Some western countries
encourage their people to go out by riding bicycles. I think, it is
mainly on account of this reason. Riding bicycles has its own
advantages compared with driving a car. First of all, as mentioned
above, it is an environment friendly method of travel. More people to
ride bicycle means less cars on the road, which can decrease greatly
the emission of automobile exhaust. Moreover, riding bicycles every
day can build up our bodies. Because of working, most of us have to
sit in front of a computer and have little time to take exercise every
day. Riding bicycles to and from work provides us such an
opportunity. In addition, bicycle is light and convenient. We needn’t
worry that there is no gasoline. So，I think , some western countries
encourage their people to ride bicycles.
Why do you think so many people prefer to immigrate to the
United States of America?
As we all know, with the improvement of people’s economic condition
and the convenience of transportation. More and more rich people
prefer to immigrate to developed countries, especially to USA. Why
do they choose America as the immigrant country. I think it is related
to the living condition and institution of America. We all know that
America is the most economically developed country of the world.
Immigrants may think that it will greatly improve their career to
immigrate to America. Furthermore, there are beautiful environment
and relatively sound institution there. People living there can enjoy
more comprehensive insurance than their previous country. From the
long-term perspective, it can also provide a better education to their
children. Taking all the advantages into account, so many people
choose America as the immigrant country.
Do you think it’s possible to remove all commercials from TV?
Your reasons for your choice.
Every one of us watches TV. When you are watching a TV show, what
is the most disgusting thing do you think? Maybe most of us will say
that it’s the TV advertisement. Indeed, we are all puzzled by TV
commercials. How do we hope to watch TV merrily and without the
disturbance of commercials! But is it possible to remove all
commercials from TV? I’m afraid the answer is no. To clarify the
reason, we must understand how TV stations operate and profit.

TV stations gain profit mainly through three ways: TV commercials,
the production of TV show and the allowance from government.
Among the three ways, the income from commercials is most. That
means if all commercials are removed from TV, TV station will lose a
large amount of income. Which TV station do you think is willing to
do so? So I believe that removing all commercials from TV, at least in
the short term, is impossible.


It is said that successful people have better language ability
than those who are less successful. Please comment.
Someone think that successful people have better language ability
than those of less successful. To some extent, this view is reasonable
because successful people have more opportunities to improve their
language skill. Successful people often meet various persons and
communicate with them. They also frequently attend all kinds of
conferences and give speeches in them. These all contribute to their
language skill. However, we can’t conclude that successful people are
surely better than less successful people in language ability. Because
the standard to judge success and failure is uncertain. For example,
an entrepreneur and an English teacher, can we affirm who is
successful and who has better language ability. So , as I see it, this
viewpoint of successful people have better language ability than those
who are less successful is not true all the time.
Some people spend a lot of money on hobbies, do you think
it worthwhile? Why or why not?
With the development of society and improvement of people’s life, we
had meet the basic demands of life like food and clothes. To make our
life colourful, more and more people begin to develop their hobbies.
It is a happy thing to have a hobby. Most of us have to spend more
than one thirds of our life to work. The time we truly use to enjoy the
life is so limited. If we have a hobby, it can bring too much joy to our
original insipid life. The spiritual enjoyment it bring to us is
immeasureable with money. So it is reasonable to spend some money
on our hobbies. However, there should be a limit to our time and
money spending on our hobbies. At least, it should not affect our
normal life and the happiness of our family. So I believe it’s
acceptable to spend moderate money on our hobbies, the point is how

to keep a balance.
Do you think having a hobby will affect your studies? Give
your reasons?
To make our life colourful, more and more people begin to develop
their hobbies. Someone think that having a hobby will affect our
studies because we may spend too much time on them. However, I
don’t think so.
I believe it is a happy thing to have a hobby. Hobbies are very
important to us. Without hobby, life won’t be as colourful as it should
and we will lose too much joy. Hobbies can help us to relieve the
unhappiness and anxiety in our life and make life easy and pleasant.
If controlled well, hobbies can help us study better instead of
affecting our studies for it is a kind of relaxation after boring and
tedious study. So I think that the opinion of having a hobby will
affect our study is partial.

Do you think the moral standards of a person will affect his
or her future career? Please comment.
With the development of society and the improvement of people's
stature. The moral standards of a person is becoming more and more
important in the society. Some people think that the moral standards
of a person will affect his or her future career. I can’t agree this
opinion any more. The moral standards of a person can influence his
or her life in various aspects. As we all know, because of the need of
our work, we have to contact with others every day. A man with good
morals can get on well with others and be more popular with them.
Furthermore, persons of noble morality will think over more for
others and be more responsible for their work. So they are more
appreciated by their boss. These all contribute to their promotion in
career. So I think a man with good morals will gain more
achievements.
Comment on the impact of one-child policy of Chinese
government on the growth of children.
As we all know, China is the most populous country of the world. The
large amount of population of China brings many problems to the
country. Such as the limited resource, the scarce cultivated land, the
fierce competition and so on. To relieve the pressure of the population,
Chinese government published the one-child policy. The policy
indeed slow the increasing speed of the population while it has an

effect on the growth of these children. On the one hand, the only child
of a family can get more care and love from their parents, which can
contribute to the child to get better education. From a long
perspective, it’s helpful to improve the quality of the population. On
the other hand, the only child may be spoiled by their parents and
become selfish and self-centered. In addition, being in a comfortable
life, they may be fragile to undergo hardships. These are harmful to
their growth. On the whole, it’s a good policy, I believe, because the
disadvantage could be avoided if well controlled.
What kind of qualifications do you think a person should
possess to be a successful manager?
A successful manager is very important for the operation of a
company. The efficiency of the work and the order of employees are
all depend on the ability of the manager. So some specific
qualifications are necessary for being an excellent manager. To be a
successful manager, I think, the following qualifications should be
possessed. First of all, the communicating ability is important. As a
manager, a man need to communicate with his staffs frequently and
express his commands. So it’s important to make his staffs
underdstand him. Then the coordinated ability is necessary. It’s
inevitable to encounter some unexpected problems in the work. So
it’s needful for manager to coordinate all factors and keep the
normal work. Last but not least, it’s crucial for a
successful manager to perceive the potential threats in work and
avoid them.
Do you think people’s ability in language is important? Why
or why not?
With the development of society, the communication between
different countries is becoming more and more frequent. It’s
necessary for us to master a foreign language if we want to keep up
with the trend. There are too many advantages learning a foreign
language, especially English. As we all know, there are lots of foreign
production around us, and most of them are marked in English. We
can easily get the basic information of these goods if we understand
English. In a developing country, we have a lot of knowledge to learn
from developed countries. We can know the latest technology in the
world through reading the foreign papers immediately if we know
the foreign language. In addition, it can also improve our

competitiveness when we look for a job if we master a foreign
language. So I believe the ability in language is certain important.
Comment on the role of Chinese language in international
communication.
With the development of Chinese economy, the role of China in the
world is more and more important. We all know that China is the
most populous country and the second largest economic entity of the
world. As a result, the impact of China on the world is significant.
Because of the increasingly frequent international communication
and the convenience of transportation, Chinese is spread all over the
world. As one of the official languages of United Nations, Chinese
language is also attracting more and more foreigners’ attention. Now,
more and more foreigners begin to learn Chinese. Chinese language
can not only help foreigners to communicate with Chinese, but also
help them to understand China and Chinese culture. So on the other
hand, Chinese language also deepen foreigners’ understanding of
China and impact of Chinese culture. From a long perspective, it can
promote the development of China and the harmony of the world.

Say something about the reasons for the widespread use of
English.
As we all know, English is a global language. Not only the people in
our country, but also people in other countries who are not native
English speakers in the world learn English. For the widespread use
of English, I think, there are the following reasons. First of all, the
historical factors should not be neglected. We all know that England
was the biggest colonial country of the world at some point in the
history, which greatly promote the spread of English though it is
compelled for the colonized people. The second is the economic factor.
We all know that in the economically developed countries in the
world, most are English-speaking. Economic dealings can promote
the spread of culture, furthermore contributing to the spread of
language. In addition, English is more easily mastered than other
languages according to some experts. So, all these reasons contribute
to the widespread use of English.
