Topic 1：Food Safety
小凯：超，我一直劝你说 不要买学校西南门的饭。你也知道他们用的食用油可能是地沟油，调料是勾兑的，可你一
直不听。
Chao,I always advise that you should not buy meals in southwestern door of our school. As you know,
the oil they use may be used oil; seasoning, like vinegar and sauce is blending, but you do not listen.
超：这没关系，我吃他们的饭都两年了，你看我还不是挺健康的；再说了吃起来口感也不错！
It does not matter, I eat their meal every day, you see, I am still healthy; besides, the texture is good.
小朱：我不这样看，虽然我们一时半会儿吃不出来毛病，但食物中的有害物质会在体 内堆积，包括食物上沾有的汽
车尾气中的铅，早晚会得病的。咱们应该去食堂。
I am not in your point, although we would not be sick immediately, the harmful substances will
accumulate in our body, including the lead in automobile exhaust. We will get sick sooner or later. So we
should eat at canteen.
李真：食堂的 也可能有问题啊！他们晚上卖的鸡腿可能会是中午剩的，我们吃了会拉肚子。我们应该买那些受欢迎
的菜 品，它们都是新做的。
The foods in the canteen may also be a problem! The drumsticks sold at night are probably the left at
noon. We should buy popular dishes, they are all new.
小凯：我同意。因为我晚上一吃鸡腿、鸡排就会肚子痛。不过食堂的饭肯定比学校门口的干净。
I agree. Because I often have a stomachache when I eat them. But the foods in canteen must better
than meals sold in the school door.
超：好。我以后少吃。进一步说，咱们中国的食品安全问题非常令人担忧。好多食品企业为了利益做了好多坏事 。
还记得那年的三鹿奶粉事件吗？
OK. I will eat less. The food safety in our country is a extremely worrying issue. Many food companies
had done a larger number of bad things for the sake of benefits. Do you remember the “Sanlu milk
powder incident”?
小朱：当然，好多婴儿都得病了，有的小孩还有了生命危险。生产商真该遭雷劈，这么缺德的事也办的出 来。
Of course, many infants were ill and some of them even in danger. The manufacturers should be
punished severely, it is so wicked things to do.
李真：现在情况好点了，自从不法分子被判了刑，这几年没有类似的报道。不过还是有很 多小的食品厂在食品中添
加有毒物质，长期食用的话可能会得癌症。
The situation is better now, since criminals have been sentenced, there are no similar stories this
years. But lots of small plants still add toxic substances in food, we may get cancer if there are long term


consumption in our body.

小朱：对啊，媒体有报道鸡爪是拿防腐剂泡过的；一次性的筷子用硫磺来漂白，它们都是剧毒物质。
Yeah, the media reported that chicken feet were soaked with preservative and disposable chopsticks
were bleached with Sulfur, they are all fatal chemical drugs.
超：另外，我一直以为大城市的食品更健康一 点，然而并不是。我看过一个节目，上海郊区的肉类加工厂生产的注
水猪肉很轻易地就进入了市区的菜市 场，检疫站直接给运输车一张合格证就放行了。
Besides, I always think that the food in large city are safe, in fact, that is a dream. On a TV Show, the
water injection pork made by meat plants in suburb of Shanghai entered market easily. The quality
station gave them a certificate directly and let them pass.
小凯：Well,我认为国家应该加大监管和惩罚力度，杜绝市场上出 现注水猪肉、毒豆芽，确保国民吃的食物是安全的。
虽然还有很长的要走，只要政府和市民齐心协力，我 们会有一个和谐的社会。
Well, I think the leaders should intensify the power of supervision and punishment, prevent the
emergence of water injection pork and poisonous bean sprouts and try to make sure foods are safe and
healthy. Though a long way to walk, we will construct a harmonious society through the efforts of
government and citizian.


The most important thing is that we can keep young state of mind all the time when we stay with children
everyday. I am patient so I think this not a hard work for me.
In that places you will not get a good salary. Then it is hard for you to enter the teacher preparation. Once
you do not, the teacher can not be your lifelong career.
Moreover, our higher degrees can find a better job for us.

Topic 3: Future Job
小凯：We have been learning in UJN for two years. We will have to find a job in two years if we donot go
to graduate school. I want to become a teacher in someday, you know, people always say teachers are the
engineer of human’s soul, and I think that’s very sacred.
超：I am not optimistic about you. Because you are not a student graduated from normal school and you
have no competence compared with them. Even if you pass the teacher qualification exam, you can only
teach in elementary or junior high school.
小朱：I am agree. Chao and I decide to study for advanced degrees thorough the examination of the
postgraduate entrance. We are interested in the material major and we believe we can study out
advanced materials for the benefit of China. How about you, lizhen? (What kind of work do you want to
engage in the future?)
李真：I am studying business administration as my second professional. At that time, I can help my dad
run our company. After a management experience, I will start my own business. Maybe, you can do my
technical backbone. Then we can strive for the same goal. With your help, we can make a lot of money.
小凯：Well, you are very ambitious. Anyway ,no one can easily get a well-paid job. Besides, what do you
think is the most popular work in our country? Civil servants(公务员)，IT engineer or other work?
超：I think the best job is civil servant, there are many advantages, for example, the work is stable, secure
and have a lot of free time and welfare. The most important thing is the wages are not low. However, I
think this job is (mediocre) valueless. What about you, xiaozhu?
小朱：In my view, the best job is the university teachers. For one thing, they are paid much than the
primary and middle school teachers. They have less time of teaching and don’t turn around the
students every day. They can work on their favorite research. And you, lizhen?
李真：I don’t quite agree with you. Now the university teachers are Ph.D.. By that time, we are 30 years
engineer is also a popular job, they can code programs to make our work and life more convenient.
They also get a good salary.
小朱：

李真：
小凯：To sum up, we must equip us with more competitive skills to make sure us have a fair shot at success,
like clear logical thinking critical thinking and communication skills. That’s all.


Topic 4:Major
小凯：超，why do you choose the compound material? Your grades are good, why don’t you choose the
alloy as your major? You know, many good students chose it.
超：Well, because the prospect of it is good and the major in our school is famous. Many teachers are very
experienced. Most of all, I am interested in our major. What about you, 小猪？
小朱：I agree your point. In fact, our major is better than other special, except the concrete. And our major
focus on chemistry, I am good at it.
李真：I am not clear about this major. Some Senior advised me to choose it, so I did. I don’t still learn
what jobs can we find？
小凯：Some teachers said we can find many jobs. We can work in research institute and some companies.
Like TaiShan glass fiber company and The China material company. But I want to enter a better college to
study on higher degrees. I don’t know which university is good for me.
超：I know some colleges you can choose. Like ShanDong University、Tianjin University and Wuhan
University. Their material colleges are all brilliant. But their entrance exam are difficult.
小朱：You must worry about English, many students cannot pass the exam just because their English is
under the grade line. But donnot worry, if you like it and do your best, nothing is impossible.
李真：I can give you some advice about learning English. For one thing, we must master words and
grammar. Only by this way can we understand the reading section and write essays well. For another, we
must practice oral everyday, because there is also a retest.
小朱：That is right. English is very important, we must learn it in a correct way. We also need to
communicate with teachers and students, we should help each other.
超：In my view, the math can open the gap between us. And I am good at math, if you have problems, I
will help you. But you must help with my English, I cannot understand the reading.
小凯： Of course, we are friends. Well, anyway, we should working hard on English and math, then, we will
enter a good postgraduate college or find a paid-well job. Finally, there is saying to encourage us,
“Nobody grows old merely by a numbers of years, we grow old by deserting our ideals. Years may
wrinkle the skin,but to give up enthusiasm wrinkles the soul.”


Topic 5: Handwriting vs. Writing on the computer
A: as we all know ,computer is more and more popular ,indeed ,it does great help to our work. for example., writing on
computer is more convenient and efficient than more and more people choose writing on computer.
Now, let us discuss this questions.


B: yeah ,I like write on computer ,firstly ,that really is convenient and efficient, just needing a computer we can take class
notes quickly. Secondly, writing on computer ,we can conveniently share to others .
C: what is more , when the teacher ask us to hand in homework to him, then ,we can finish our homework on
computer and send a email to the teacher in time .
Yes ,writing on computer really has some advance ,but ,l still am accustomed to handwriting , I love the felling of
writing, and I hardly ever write on computer ,so I type very slowly. About you?
D: oh , me too, I also like handwriting, and I think if you need to remember something, write it. Writing notes by
hand is much better for long-term memory of ideas, or conceptual information. If you want to remember longer ,just
write it on paper by your hand.
A: I cannot agree more, handwriting is really helpful to our memories. And moreover ,Chinese character is part of our
traditional culture. For those fundamental character ,we everyone must can write, however , too much writing on
computer may make people cannot do it. That is very terrible.
B:That indeed is true, more and more writing on computers , instead of handwriting, makes people`s writing ability of
Chinese
characters decrease gradually . Some people ever only know but not write for fundamental characters, it is difficult to
understand.
C:you are right,i think i also should start to write by hand, instead of writing on computer,indeed,improving writing ability can improve our
culture quality,having good handwriting has great help for your future career.
D:i agree,in our study or life , if we write beautiful,we would leave deep impression on others, then, we would get more chances,
therefore, beautiful handwriting is so important.
