Why do people like phubbing instead of communicating face-to-face with other
people?
Phubbing is made up of phone and snubbing, which means ignoring the person in
front of you in favor of the smart phone. Phubbing has become a serious issue in
twenty-first century. But, why do people prefer phubbing instead of communicating
with others face to face? There are several reasons as follows.
Firstly, lived in information age, which information is updated quickly and the
pace of life is fast, people want to use all available time to get the latest
information. Thus in a social setting, they act snubbing their friends or partners by
looking of their phones instead of paying attention. Moreover, more and more people
become phubbers who are addicted to smart phones. Once don't have a cell phone in
their hands, they would get into panic. Someone even fears of communicating with
others face to face. Thirdly, they are not interested in the topic or content that their
friends or family members talk about, such as classmates' party or family party.
From my point, phubbing is not only harmful but also impolite behavior. Stop
phubbing! Let us put down the smart phone and more communicate with our family
and friends rather than snub them.
