called any of my ideas “ 44 ”before.
“Then I’ll build mine and you build yours!”
45 words had been out, our friendship was challenged.

whose eggs survived 48 three more steps and dropped them again. This would go on till the

grab a 42 , hold it under the branch, and tell him to 43 so we could catch him. My other
sister, Yams, one year younger than me, looked at me eagerly to 44 her idea and I said

“Are you sure I’ll land on the blanket?” But because of a problem at 49 with his tongue being
a bit attached to the mouth, it came out like this, “Ah you sho awill lan on da blanked?” “Yup!” I

that sheet and landed on his stomach. This tiny seventy-pound boy had made a big 53
right in the sheet!
Because he wasn’t moving, we bent down to sense if he was still alive. Slowly, he uttered
these five words, “Ah stee hi da flow!”, 54 , “I still hit the floor!” Poor little man!
Now Chris is fourteen and he still blames us about it. 55 , he wants to be a fireman when
he grows up.

and then I went home and 32 myself in with my key and waited for my parents to come back
from work.

to the end of the street. The bonfire was very 35 , and somehow people had collected some old
clothes to 36 “Hitler” with the moustache they had put on top of it. Just as we arrived, they set
light to it. The flames 37 soon. Everyone was cheering and shouting.
I stood beside my father until the 38 started to go down, not knowing what to say. He said
nothing, either. He had 39 in the First World War and remembered everything he had
experienced. At last he said, “Well, that’s it, son. Let’s hope that this time it really will be the 40

ear, “I love you.” Then it happened -the 53 we both had been waiting for.
I’ll never forget that day or the silly grin on his face afterward. Tears streamed 54 my
