一、美国常用俚语和词组 American English Slang Words & Phrases
1.

What's up? /How are you doing? / What's new?
怎么回事？你在干什么？有什么新鲜事？
Eg. Hey Tom! What's up? 嗨，汤姆!最近怎么样?

2. Have a crush /Attracted to someone romantically
暗恋/被某人吸引
Eg. I have a big crush on him. 我被他深深吸引了。

3. Screw up /To make a mistake.
搞砸了/犯了错
Eg. Sorry I screwed up and forgot our plans. 抱歉我搞砸了，我完全忘记我们原定的计划

4. Wrap it up/To finish something. 结束、收尾、下班/去完成某件事
Eg. Let's wrap it up in five minutes. 让我们在5分钟内完成它吧！


二、 好用的成语 Useful Idioms
◆ Something Fishy
When someone talks aboutfishygoing on, it means there's something not quite
right or they have a bad feeling about it.
当有人说这里「有点鱼腥味」意思是指有些不对劲的地方或是他们有种不祥的预感
For example：
Susan went out with this guy and thought there was something fishy about him. She found out
later he already had a girlfriend!
苏珊与这男生约会的时候，总觉得有点怪怪的。后来发现他竟然已经有女朋友了!

◆ Shooting the Breeze

「透风」是用来形容和一群好友出去消麾时间
For example:
l like to sit outside the 7-11 after work with a cold beer and some mates just shooting the
breeze.
我喜欢与一群好友在下班后，坐在7-11外喝着冰啤酒透气一下。



◆Zip it
Telling someone to“zip(your) lip
当我们告诉某人「封起来」或是「封上你的唇」， 意思就是希望他们不要再说了(又叫做
闭嘴)
For example:
John just wouldn’t be quiet in the office so someone told him to zip it and everybody clapped.
约翰在办公室锂时常喋喋不休，所以当有人告诉他闭嘴时，大家都拍手鼓掌了。

三、英文口头禅 Catchphras
◆ So that explains it 原来如此!
有时候事情的来龙去脉浑沌不清，让人摸不着头脑，刚好有人一句话点醒了你，让你 豁
然开朗时，你就可以用上这句话：So that explains it/ everything.「这就都说得通了。」

◆No hard feelings别放在心上!
难免有时候会开玩笑过了头或是和别人起小争执，这时候 No hardfeelings这句口头禅
就很好用!
e.g.
A: Sorry I forgot your birthday!
对不起我忘了你生日!
B: No hard feelings 没事，别放在心上!

◆Call it a day到此为止!
这个词组字面上意思是「叫它一天。」引申为「到此为止，停止手边的工 作。」当你想
要结束一件事不再追究，或是开会散会前丶下课前或下班前，都可以说 Let's call it a day「今
天就到这里为止吧。」
e.g.
You must be tired so let's call it a day
你一定累了，我们今天就到此为止吧。

四、到底要加ed?还是ing ed? or-ing?
What's the difference between adjectives that end with andThe former is
usually used to describe feelings and the latter is usually used to describe things.
我们常常都会看到形容词后面加上-ed或加上- ing,前者通常是用来形容感受而后者通常
是用来形容东西。
Be careful which one you use! There is a huge difference betw eenboredand
boring
使用上我们要小心的去辨别两者的不同,例如以及你想说 的到底
是哪一个呢?
A. I’m very bored.我好无聊喔
B. I‘m very boring.我是一个无聊的人(我令人感到无聊!)

五、两者不一样? What’s the difference?
I can' t stop eating.和I cant stop to eat.有什么不一样？
A. can' t stop + verbing
If you can' t stop eating, it means you love food so much that you're always eating!
当can' t stop加上动词ing时，代表你无法停下你当 下正在做的那一件事情。如果你
“can' I stop eating”代表你热爱食物，总是在吃东西，停不下来。
B. can't stop+ to+ verb
If you can't stop to eat, it means you're so busy that you have no time for food.
当can'stop加上to加上动词，代表你无法停下来(手边正在进行的事)去做另一件事情。

如果你“can' t stop to eat”代表你正在忙?没办法停下来吃东西。
Example:
I can't stop to chat because I'm heading to the meeting.
我没办法停下来跟你聊天?因为我正在去办公室的路上。

六、What's the meaning of the phrase“ better late than never”?
谚语「有做总比从没开始好」意思是?
To arrive or do something later than expected isn't good, but it is better than not at all
比预期的时间晚到或完成一件事并不理想?但总比完全都没有的好。
It is often expressed with a degree of sarcasm, apparently saying something positive but in
fact merely remarking on someone' s lateness.
For example, a teacher might say it to a child arriving late for school.
在使用这个谚语时，其实伴随着一定程度的讽刺感。字面上看来虽正面， 但其实是评
论一个人来晚了，一个老师就可能会对迟到的同学讲这句话。
