1. 春节是中国传统的节日,也是中国最重要的 节日。在春节前的几周里，每家每
户开始准备丰盛的食物、购买新衣服和打扫房间。家家户户贴春联(S pring
Festival couplets),挂灯笼，贴年画。春节到来时，每一个出门在外 的人都会尽
量赶回家和家人团聚。典型的春节庆祝活动还有放鞭炮以辞旧迎新，以及给
长辈和亲 朋好友拜年以表达新年的美好愿望。
The Spring Festival is a traditional and the most important festival in China.
Several weeks before it, every household would begin to prepare delicious food,
buy new clothes, and do cleanups. Each and every family sticks Spring Festival
couplets, hangs up lanterns and pastes New Year pictures. When the Spring
Festival comes, no matter how far away from home, people will always try to get
home for the family reunion. Besides, the typical activities of celebrating the
Spring Festival include setting off firecrackers to see off the old year and welcome
the New Year, and extending the New Year greetings to the elders, friends and
relatives to express good wishes.


2. 众所周知，长城有两千多年的历史，是中国建筑史上的奇迹，也是世界文化
遗产之一。长城是中国古代人民智慧的结晶(condensation), 也是中华民族和
中华文明的象征。长城从东到西蜿蜒(wind)起伏于中国北部，全长8851.8千
米。过去，长城 是为了抵御北方敌人的进攻而修建的。如今，长城已经成为
著名的旅游景点，每年都吸引着众多来自国内 外的游客。
It’s well known that the Great Wall, with a history of over 2,000 years, is a great
construction wonder of China and one of the world cultural heritages as well. The
Great Wall is the condensation of ancient Chinese People’s wisdom, and also a
symbol of Chinese nation and civilization. The Great Wall winds across the North
of China from east to west, covering a distance of 8,851.8 kilometers. In the past,
the Great Wall was intended to defend the attacks from the Northern enemies, but
nowadays it has become a famous tourist attraction, visited by a large number of
people from home and abroad every year.
