Student Use of Computers

As is shown in the chart above, the average number of hours that college students spent on
computers per week increased sharply from 1990 to 2000. The first 5 years witnessed a

rise from less than 2 hours a week to almost 4 hours; while the number soared from 4 hours

in the last 5 years.
As is shown in the chart above, great changes have taken place in students use of
computers between 1990 and 2000. On the one hand, the number of hours students spend

the other hand, it soared from 4 hours to around 18 hours a week in the last 5 years.
Why does the computer become so popular? There are several factors accounting for
