The current era of manufacturing has been referred to as Industry 4.0.
Manufacturing in industry 4.0 makes use of technology such as automation,
nanotechnology, and the Internet of Things.
Here are some of the largest technological trends within the manufacturing sector
today.

3D printing
3D printing is the process of making a physical object from a digital design on a
computer.
In 3D printing, layers of material are added to match the design.
3D printing is being applied to many fields.
For example, the medical industry has used it to save lives by manufacturing human
body parts.
3D printing allows complex designs to be produced with less money than traditional
manufacturing methods.

Nanotechnology
Nanotechnology involves the manipulation of atoms and molecules.
Atoms and molecules can be arranged to manufacture various products at a higher
quality.
Example of products using nanotechnology include stain-resistant clothing and
durable building materials.
The medical industry has used 3D printing to save lives by manufacturing human
body parts.
If nanotechnology technology is implemented in the construction industry, building
materials will be more durable.

Manufacturers can use IOT devices to remove inefficiencies from their systems and
manage business processes.
