用英文表达感谢范文
一年即将结束,回想这一年来的美好的人和事,总是让人心 存
感激。下面是的关于怎么用英文表达感谢的文章,希望对大家有用,
更多消息请关注。
(To be) thankful (for something)
(对某事)心存感激
This is a very mon phrase that you’ll hear around
Thanksgiving. It is a way to express that you are thankful
(happy) for the good things in your life.
你会在感恩节前后听到这个短语,它十分常见。这是你对生活
中的美好事物表达感恩的一种方式。
Example:
Let’s take turns and say what we’re thankful for. I’
m thankful that I’m healthy and that all of us could be together
for this Thanksgiving feast.
让我们轮流表达 值得感恩的事情。我感恩我有健康的身体,感
恩我们所有人能齐聚此地,共享感恩节的盛宴。
(To be) a turkey
怪异;滑稽有趣
This is not connected to Thanksgiving, but if you call a
person a turkey, you’re saying that he or she is weird or funny.
这个表达和感恩节无关,如果你称呼某人为火鸡,那你是在说
他/她很怪异或者滑稽有趣。
Example:
As a joke, while John was riding the bus he was making
airplane sounds and pretending that he was a pilot. He’s a real
turkey sometimes.
这是个玩笑,约翰在开公交车时总是发出飞机的轰鸣声,假装
他是个飞行员。有时候他真是有趣。
Hot potato
烫手山芋;棘手问题
A hot potato is a difficult problem or situation that no
one wants to solve, so they pass it on and on from one person
to the next. A hot potato will burn your hands if you hold it,
so you need to throw it to someone else quickly!
烫手山芋指一个没人想解决的问题或处境,所以人们互相推诿。
如果你握住烫手山芋 ,它会灼伤你的手,因此你需要很快把它扔给其
他人。
It is also the name of a game that you may have played in
class, where you have to throw around a ball or other object
as fast as possible.
它还是一个游戏名称(击鼓传花),你可能在课堂上玩过,你必
须尽可能快速地把手上的球或其他物体丢 开。
Example:
We still need to plan our presentation, but no one has the
time or desire to work on it. The presentation is being a hot
potato, so someone needs to take charge.
我们仍然需要策划发布会,但是没人有时间和意愿去做这件事。
发布会成了一个烫手 山芋,因此需要有人来负责。
Corny
陈旧的,老生常谈的
This is an adjective that means silly, funny or not cool.
这是个形容词,表示简单的,有趣的或者陈旧过时的。
Example:
Now that Tom is a father, he seems to constantly make “dad
jokes”—corny jokes that no one laughs at.
既然汤姆已为人父,他似乎总是开一些“爸爸式玩笑”——一
些陈旧过时的玩笑,没人笑得出来。
Black Friday
黑色星期五
You may have heard about this day, especially if you’
re interested in shopping or discounts.
你可能听过这个日子,特别是如果你对购物或折扣感兴趣的话。
In the past—and still today—many people get two days off
of work for Thanksgiving: Thursday and Friday. This effectively
creates a “four-day weekend,” so many people travel or do fun
things during the days after Thanksgiving.
过去——如今也是——许多人感恩节会放假两天:星期四和星
期五。这实际上创造了 一个“四天周末”,因此许多人在感恩节过后
的日子里去旅行或者做些有趣的事情。
Also, the day or two after Thanksgiving gives people a good
opportunity to do some Christmas shopping, since Christmas is
generally about a month after Thanksgiving. However, many
people had the same idea, so the day after Thanksgiving began
to be called Black Friday because it was usually a chaotic,
“dark” time to go shopping since many stores were pletely full
of people.
而且,感恩节后的一两天给了人们一个圣诞节购物的好机会,
因为圣诞节通常是在感 恩节后大约一个月来临。然而,许多人都有相
同的想法,所以感恩节后的日子开始被称为“黑色星期五” ,因为那
天许多商店都人山人海,一片混乱,是购物的“黑暗”时间。
In recent times, especially with the Inter, many stores
have started having “Black Friday Sales.” Sometimes there are
good deals, and sometimes people just think there will be good
deals, so they go to a store to see. Either way, it is still
generally one of the busiest shopping days of the year.
