I've missed more than 9000 shots,
lost almost 300 games, and 26 times, I've been trusted to
make the game winning shot and missed.
迈克尔。乔丹说：我已经投失了9000多个球，输了将

I fail over and over again.

And that is why I succeed. Michael Jordan is one of the
most famous basketball players in the world though he
wasn’t always a star.

He didn’t make his high school basketball team because
he was too short and wasn’t good enough.
他没能进入他高中的篮球队，因为他太矮了，球技也不
够好。
He could’ve quit, but, instead, he had the mindset to
continue and get better.
他本可以放弃，但相反，他有继续前进并变得更好的心
态。
He was out practicing each day before most people were
even out of bed.
每天在大多数 人还没起床之前，他就在练习了。

And because of this, he not only made the team the
following year, but he went on to become the greatest player
of all time and a true champion.
正因为如此，他不仅在第二年加入了 球队，而且他继续
努力并成为有史以来最伟大的球员和真正的冠军。

The question that comes to our minds is: can we all
learn to have the mindset of a champion?
我们想到的问题是：我们都可以学会拥有一个冠军思维
吗？
A “mindset” is a word describing how we think.
“思维”是描述我们如何思考的词语。
There are two types of mindsets: one, a growth mindset,
and two, a fixed mindset.
思维有两种：第一，成长型思维；第二，固定型思维。
A growth mindset is when somebody believes they can
learn to be good and they can learn to get better.
成长型思维是当某人认为自己可以学习成为好人时，他
们可以通过学习变得更好。
They are not afraid of challenges.
他们不怕挑战。
They continue when things get hard.
当事情变得困难时，他们不放弃。
They know that they have put effort in to learn, and
they learn from criticism.
他们知道他们要努力学习，并从批评中学到东西。
They are also inspired by people who do well.
他们也受到做得好的人的启发。
Michael Jordan has this trait though another person
with a growth mindset is the Rock, Dwayne Johnson.
迈克尔。乔丹具有这个特征，而另一位具有成长型思维
的人是巨石，道恩.强森。
He was cut from the Canadian Football League early on
in his career.
在他的职业生涯的早期，他就被加拿大橄榄球联盟裁掉
了。
He could’ve quit, but instead he worked very hard,
faced many challenges, and is now a super, super famous
movie star, one of my favorites.
他本可以放弃，但是 他却非常努力，面对过许多挑战，

Did you know that coaches and professional scouts look
for athletes who don’t just have skill.
你知道教练和专业球探吗？他们不仅仅寻找只有技术
的运动员。
They want someone who wants to learn, who’s
coachable, and will give a 100% effort in practices.
他们想要一个渴望学习、需要被指导训练的人，并且会
在训练中付出100%努力的人。
They want someone with a growth mindset.
他们想要一个具有成长型思维的人。
What they don’t want is someone who thinks they are
already good enough, they don’t need to learn, and are not
coachable.
他们想要的不是一个认为自己已经足够优秀，他们不需
要学习，也不需要被指导训练的人。
These people have a fixed mindset.
这些人有固定型思维。
A fixed mindset is the opposite of a growth.
固定型思维与成长型思维相反。
These people either think they’re born good or born not
so good.
这些人要么以为自己天生就好，要么天生不是那么好。
They cannot learn.
他们不会学习。
They’re afraid of challenges.
他们害怕挑战。
They give up and get defensive easily.
他们放弃努力并经常为自己辩解。
They feel criticized when given feedback, and they’re
threatened by people who do well.
得到反馈后，他们会感到被批判了，也会感觉到来自做
得好的人的威胁。
Which mindset do you think I have?

Well, let me tell you a story.
好吧，让我告诉你一个故事。
Reading has always been hard for me, and even now I
still find it challenging.
阅读一直以来对我来说都很困难，即使现在我仍然觉得
它充满挑战。
From kindergarten to fourth grade, I was always a bit
below grade level in reading.
从幼儿园到四年级，我的阅读总是低于年级水平。
So each night, I read aloud to my parents to try to get
better.

This was always the worst part of my day.

Whenever I was reading, I would, of course, make
mistakes:misread words, say words that were not there, miss
words that were there, and miss punctuation, normal.

But whenever my mom or dad tried to correct me, I’d
get upset.

I told them that they were wrong and sometimes even
had a meltdown.

This happened for my friends and teachers and with
other subjects and activities too.

I thought that I should know how to do everything
already, and if i didn’t, I would get upset.
