Civil rights
In the past years people in many countries have struggled hard for
their civil rights .Today ,we would like to introduce something about civil
rights.

what are civil rights? .It means right or rights belonging to a person
by reason of citizenship including especially the fundamental freedoms
and
privileges
guaranteed
by
the
13th
and
14th
amendments
and
subsequent acts of Congress including the right to legal and social and
economic equality .(
定义
)
Civil
rights
include
the
ensuring
of
peoples'
physical
integrity
and
safety;
protection
from
discrimination
on
grounds
such
as
physical
or
mental
disability,
gender,
religion,
race,
national
origin,
age,
sexual
orientation, or gender identity ;and individual rights such as privacy, the
freedoms
of
thought
and
conscience,
speech
and
expression,
religion,
the press, and movement.(
包括。

)

The
following
are
some
typical
examples
of
segregation
and
Gender Inequality.

Segregation was an attempt by many white Southerners to separate
the
races
in
every
aspect
of
daily
life.
Segregation
became
common
in
Southern
states
following
the
end
of
Reconstruction
in
1877.
These
states
began
to
pass
local
and
state
laws
that
specified
certain
places
“For
Whites
Only”
and
others
for
“Colored.”

African
Americans
had
separate schools, transportation, restaurants, and parks, many of which
were poorly funded and inferior to those of whites .Over The system of
segregation
also
included
the
denial
of
voting
rights,
known
as
disenfranchisement.

Conditions
for
African
Americans
in
the
Northern
states were somewhat better,

the most difficult part of Northern life was
the
economic
discrimination
against
African
Americans.
They
had
to
compete
with
large
numbers
of
recent
European
immigrants
for
job
opportunities, and they almost always lost because of their race.
(民权

When
it
comes
to
Gender
Inequality
.The
advent
of
industrial
capitalism
in
the
nineteenth
century
brought
new
economic
opportunities for men but closed options for women. As the gendered
work
that
men
and
women
performed
within
the
household
economy
was transferred to mill and factory, jobs were gendered. Little value and
low pay was attached to tasks usually performed by women. For minority
women,
sex
discrimination
in
employment
compounded
racial
and
ethnic discrimination, relegating them to jobs at the very bottom of the
economic scale.
(第二个:男女不平等)

The civil right movement in the world was a long struggle to bring
full civil rights and equality.

There
are
some
civil
rights
movements
in
America
.In
nineteen
fifty-one,
NAACP
sent
its
lawyers
to
help
a
man
in
the
city
of
Topeka,
Kansas.
The
man,
Oliver
Brown,
and
twelve
others
had
brought
legal
action
against
the
city.
They
wanted
to
end
racial
separation
in
their
children's
schools.
That
policy
was
known
as
segregation.
The
case
against the city of Topeka -- Brown versus the Board of Education -- was
finally
settled
by
the
nation's
highest
court.
In
nineteen
fifty-four,
the
Supreme Court ruled that separate schools for black children
were not
equal to schools for white children. The next year, it said public schools
must accept children of all races as quickly as possible. This event was
called
School Desegregation.

他们所反对的这一政策被称为“种族隔离制度”
