支付条款

指合同中有关买方支付货款的各个条文
”

），是合同中至关重要的条款之一，它详尽地规
定了付款的方式、
条件和时间等内容。
英语合同支付条款中表示
“
支付
”
意思 的惯用词组尤其值得关注，
例如：
“
available
by
、
payment
by
、
payable to
、
paid
or
payable
、
due
to,
in
favor
of/or the benefit of
、
for one
’
s account
”
等，因为它 们不
仅意思微妙，
而且结构复杂，
往往与一些介词搭配使用而成为英
语合同支 付条款中的惯用法。
正确理解这些英语合同支付条款中
表示
“
支付
”
等惯用词组的确切含义和使用场合，
有助于准确地
理解和翻译英语中相关的合同条款，
也有助于做好其他经贸合同
条款的汉译英，因为在汉译英时也可采用
“

是由

”
的一般意思
“
可获得
的、可购得的、可找到的
”

）引申而来，
常与介词
“
by
”
连用，
“
by
”
在这里的英语意思相当于
“
in
accordance with
”
、
“
according to
”
或
“
as per
”
。该短语
常用在经贸合同的信用证（
A Letter of Credit
）支付条款中。

；而

”
则应理解和翻译为
“在某某时间支付
”

意思是

（应付给谁的款项）和
due and payable
（到期
并应支付的款项）



“
due
to
”
也经常使用在合同的支付条款中，表示
“
应付给
谁的款项
”
，相当于
“
payable to somebody
”
。
“
due to
”
经
常出现在
“
may become due to
”
句式中，常用在定语从句里，
修饰前面表示某一笔金额的先行词，
可将其翻译为“
可能应付给
某某人
”
。请看以下例子：
