汉语四字排比结构的英译处理


四字结构几乎可见于古今各种文体之中，或 独自成句，或并列排比，或前呼
后应。结构匀称对仗，读起来音韵和美，表达言简意赅，将汉语文字的音 与形
的特点巧妙揉和在一起，极富美感。而汉语四字排比结构就更是词义丰富，文
才华丽，语气 连贯，具有极强的修辞效果。

尽管如此，汉语四字排比结构的字面意义并非历历具足，往往是 虚实相生，
重在气势和意境；而英语却是一种非常理性的语言，最重清楚明白，最忌逻辑
混乱与 文字堆砌，所以在翻译的过程中，汉语工整对仗、抑扬顿挫的排比结构
在英语中却多半变得长短不一、参 差不齐，这是不可避免的。因为我们不可能
强求与原文保持形式上的一致，这样一来反而会导致译文表达 松散堆砌，这是
不符合英语表达习惯的。因此，汉语的四字排比结构在翻译成英语时，可根据
其 语义成分和逻辑成分，转化成英语中相应的结构。


下面就逻辑关系分别说明其英译处理的方法：

．并列关系的四字排比结构的英译处理

并列关系的四字排比结构通常转化为英语中的下列结构：

含主从关系的四字排比结构的英译处理


汉语中有些四字排比结构可能是围 绕着一个中心进行描述的，
在英译时可以
将其中的主从部分转化成伴随结构或状语结构。



1)

作为世界第一大洲，亚洲幅员辽阔，人口众多，资源丰富，有着巨大的
发展潜力。

Asia,
as
the
largest
continent
in
the
world,

is
a
vast
land
with
a
huge
population,
abundant
natural

and
enormous

for

汉语中的四字排比结构有些含有隐性的因果关系，在翻译的时候通常是将

表示原因部分放在前面，中间用“导致”或“形成”等类似的动词连接。

四字排比结构的化简


由于 汉语四字排比结构与英语表达习惯之间的差异，从英语的角度来讲，
汉语四字排比结构中必然有一些不符 合英语表达习惯的成分，比如同义重复的
四字结构，在汉语中有着加强语气的作用，如果照搬到英语中就 显得罗嗦多余。

汉语四字排比结构的化简，首先要确定那些属于汉语中范畴词，是否属于同义重复，然后去掉汉语中有而英语中可以不要的部分。

以上几个方面只是汉语四字排比结构在英译处理过程中的常见方法，
并不 能
以一变应万变，更多的时候要求我们具体情况具体分析。总的一点是首先抓住
原句的意思的实 质，选择对应的英语句式，通顺地表达原文意思，不能原封不

动地照搬死译。
