Glories of the Storm

It
begins
when
a
feeling
of
stillness
creeps into my consciousness. Everything
has
suddenly
gone
quiet.
Birds
do
not
chirp
啁啾
.
Leaves
do
not
rustle.
Insects
do not sing.
The
air
that
has
been
hot
all
day
becomes
heavy.
It
hangs
over
the
trees,
presses
the
heads
of
the
flowers
to
the
ground,
sits
on
my
shoulders.
With
a
vague feeling of uneasiness I move to the
window.
There,
in
the
west,
lies
the
answer
–
cloud has piled on cloud to form
a
ridge
of
mammoth

的

white
towers, rearing against blue sky.
Their
piercing
刺穿的

whiteness
is
of brief duration. Soon the marshmallow
棉花糖

rims
flatten
to
anvil
铁砧
tops,
and
the
clouds
reveal
their
dark
nature.
They
impose
themselves
before
the
late-afternoon
sun,
and
the
day
darkens
early. Then a gust of wind whips the dust
along the road, chill warning of what is to
come.
In
the
house
a
door
shuts
with
a
bang,
curtains
billow
into
the
room.
I
rush
to
close
the
windows,
empty
the
clothesline
晾
衣
绳
,
secure
the
patio
furnishings.
Thunder
begins
to
grumble
in the distance.
The first drops of rain are huge. They
splat
into
the
dust
and
imprint
the
windows with individual signatures. They
plink
on
the
vent
pipe
and
plunk
on
the
patio
roof.
Leaves
shudder
under
their
weight
before
rebounding,
and
the
sidewalk wears a coat of shiny spots.
The
rhythm
accelerates;
plink
follows
plunk
faster
and
faster
until
the
sound
is
a
roll
of
drums
and
the
individual
drops
become
an
army

暴风雨的壮丽

暴风雨开始时，我的内心变得很 平静。
一切都突然安静下来，鸟儿不再啁啾，虫儿
停止鸣唱，树叶也没有了沙沙的响声。

热了一整天的空气变得沉重起来，它笼
罩着树木，压弯了花朵，环绕在我周围。我
也感到一种隐约不安，走到窗前一看，在西
边，有了答案——云朵层层叠叠，形成了一
座座巨大 的白塔，耸入蓝天。

着亮眼的白色持续并时间不长，很快，
云块就由棉花糖状变成了 砧状，接着变成了
深色的乌云。
它们遮住了午后的阳光，
于是，
天早早的阴沉 下来。一阵风卷着尘土沿路刮
起，寒冷预示着什么要来了。

在房子里，门砰的一声关 上，窗帘（随
风）翻腾进屋内。我冲过去把窗户关上，收
掉了衣物，固定住了露台上的家具。雷 声隆
隆，就在不远处。

初落的雨滴很大，啪嗒落入尘土，滴在
窗户上，留下 了它们各自的印记；叮铃铃的
打在通气管上，砰砰的落在楼台的顶端。树
叶在它们的重量击打下 来回震颤，人行道也
穿上了一件闪亮的斑点外套。

节奏加快，
叮铃声随着扑 通声越来越快，
快的像是一连串的鼓声。这些雨滴像是在田
野和屋顶上空行军的部队。这时，第 一道闪
电划过天空，这是天空的惊叹
:
暴风雨来了。

不知不觉，我 期待着下一个雷声。雨落
在玻璃窗上，咔哒作响，吓得狗钻到了床底
下。
下一个雷更低 ，
惊得我汗毛都竖了起来，
不知不觉，我挪步远离户。

雨倾注而下，在风中 随意的了舞动。它
们击打着树木，扫平了青草。水流顺屋顶而
下，流出了出水槽，打在窗户上， 冲刷着玻
璃，我都看不见了。只有水，这么多怎么可
以流这么快？云是怎样承受这样沉的重量< br>的？地球又是怎样在下面处理它的？

我在房间里从这个窗户走到那个窗
户，惊 奇的想知道。看丁香花是怎样被压弯
了腰的，玉簪花是怎样被击倒的，山坡上的
台阶是怎样成了 一个新的瀑布的。现在，冰
雹重重的打在房顶上，从草上弹起又落入小
