Well girls, you've done it. You are now international
champs
when it comes to
Botox,
among the biggest
users in the world.
In fact, Australians are spending around $$300 million a year on what they call
non-invasive treatments
-
new faces without plastic surgery.

And it's not just women of a certain age who are
turning to the needle
to help banish those little lines and
imperfections.

Botox fans are getting younger and younger, even wrinkle-free 20-somethings are into it.
The way it's going, the idea of letting nature take its course, of growing old gracefully, may soon be a
thing of the past.
Full transcript:

ELLEN FANNING: Kate Hockley has a perfect face.

KATE HOCKLEY: I've had it here, I get it across my brow.

ELLEN FANNING: But at 21, she thinks she's looking old - so, believe it or not, she's had a
modern-day facelift, without going anywhere near a
scalpel.

KATE HOCKLEY: I don't think of it as a medical thing at all. It's not an invasive surgery - it's just
Botox.

ELLEN FANNING: Every five to six weeks, Kate has a beginners' version of what they're calling
the
liquid facelift
- in her case, dozens of Botox injections to prevent wrinkles she doesn't yet
have! A university student and part-time model, Kate's a regular, down-to-earth girl who, like
most of her friends, just happens to think that anyone over 40 is ancient.

ELLEN FANNING: So, is 21 old?

KATE HOCKLEY: 21 is old. My idea of the ideal age would probably be about 18 or 19.

ELLEN FANNING: 18 or 19 then it's all
downhill
from there?

KATE HOCKLEY: Well, I feel that way. I feel since 18 or 19 it's just a constant battle.

ELLEN FANNING: I am exactly twice your age. Can I
advocate
on behalf of giving up the battle to
look young? It's great!

KATE HOCKLEY: Life is all about balance. I look forward to reaching the age that I don't care
about this stuff anymore.

ELLEN FANNING: And what age would that be?

KATE HOCKLEY: I can only guess, but I'm going to take a
stab
at maybe mid-30s.

ELLEN FANNING: If 21 is old, at 50 Madonna should look
ancient
. But, instead of having that
surgical look produced by an old-fashioned facelift, thousands of
trendsetting
women around the
world are saying 'no' to the knife and 'yes' to the needle. It very much looks like Madonna and
these women have had their wrinkles frozen with Botox and hollowing cheeks
puffed ou
t with
injectable gels
, producing the soft,
dewy
face of an adult child. Meet the man behind the Madonna
- the
incomparable
Dr Frederick Brandt.

DR FREDERICK BRANDT: It won't hurt a bit.

ELLEN FANNING: You inject Madonna's face?

DR FREDERICK BRANDT: I cannot tell you what I do to her. She may just come for a little skin
treatment and my advice on creams, but I never tell what I do. Just like if you came in my chair,
no-one would know what I've done to you.

ELLEN FANNING: You'd never tell?

DR FREDERICK BRANDT: I'd never tell.

ELLEN FANNING: If Brandt has a slightly Hollywood
aura
about him, it's because not only does
he use more
collagen
and Botox than anyone else in the world, he uses a great deal of it on
himself.

DR FREDERICK BRANDT: Yes, I'm making a
comeback
, for the 100th time.

ELLEN FANNING: His 59-year-old face is an extreme version of this new look. It's been described
as 'a smooth, frozen mask
'.

ELLEN FANNING: Show me that again - frown.

DR FREDERICK BRANDT: I can't frown.

ELLEN FANNING: Show me! You can't do it?

DR FREDERICK BRANDT: Oh, you're trying to... (LAUGHS)

ELLEN FANNING: No, no, seriously!

DR FREDERICK BRANDT: No, I can't.

ELLEN FANNING: Can you look angry? How about surprised?

DR FREDERICK BRANDT: I convey it with my personality.

DR FREDERICK BRANDT: Let's get the creams on the face and your age we will erase!

ELLEN FANNING: Today, his patient is Suzy Isaacs. She works in the
fashion industry
and at
50-something is just a touch older than the Material Girl herself. SUZY ISAACS: He's such a
talented artist. I'm putty in his hands. Whatever he wants to do - I trust him
implicitly
.

ELLEN FANNING: And no wonder. Dr Brandt can
airbrush
a human face, just as surely as any
magazine editor. Before your very eyes, tiny amounts of Botox - a deadly nerve agent - flatten the
wrinkles and lift the brow. Then
sagging
cheeks are filled up with
synthetic gels.
He's putting
stuff in your face, it's like blowing your face up just the littlest bit.

DR FREDERICK BRANDT: You know these TV people = they love drama. SUZY ISAACS: But you
learn to love it.

ELLEN FANNING: Half a dozen more jabs and Suzy has a Botox neck lift - a Dr Brandt special.

DR FREDERICK BRANDT: So you can get rid of the
turkey
thing that people get?

DR FREDERICK BRANDT: Yes. Gobble,
gobble
! Yes.

ELLEN FANNING: A few bruises later, Suzy's had a facelift without the stitches and
post- operative recovery. The only catch is the $$10,000 treatment
wears off
after about three
months.

ELLEN FANNING: But look at this.

DR FREDERICK BRANDT: This is Suzy. You can see what a change - she had a lot of that
jolliness

in her neck and her jaw line was irregular.

ELLEN FANNING: This is how Suzy used to look, seven years ago.
