The food we ate in the past is healthier than the food today.
As the agricultural industry has developed with the advance of technology, foods are often presented with
chemical
materials.
For
example,
there
are
vegetables
with
pesticides,
junk
food
which
is
fried
and
genetically-modified
foods
which
are
potentially
harmful
to
human
beings,
thus
people
tend
to
have
something cooked by their own. All these information points to the fact that the food we ate in the past is
healthier than the food we eat today.
First
of
all,
it
is
obvious
that
modern
people
suffer
from
the
pesticide
remains
in
vegetables
and
fruits.
Undeniably, with the help of the pesticide, the agricultural productivity has been greatly promoted, not to
mention the shape of the fruits and vegetables look more pleasant than it used to be. Therefore, in order to
make
the
foods
look
more
delicate
and
smell
more
delicious,
people
use
pesticide
to
protect
goods.
However, one of the unfavorable consequences is that pesticide remains result in horrible diseases, or at
least render people vulnerable to the infection of bacteria and viruses.

Moreover, people’s diet includes a large portion of fast food, which is mostly fried and harmful to their
health. Imagine that we eat the hamburgers, French fries and coke everyday, the most likely result is that
we will get overweight. No wonder rate of obesity is on the rise, especially among kids, because they only
eat
what
tastes
good,
unaware
of
what
are
hea
lthy
and
what
are
not.
What’s
worse,
heart
disease,
hypertension and some other diseases could be partially attributed to the over intake of fast food.
In
addition,
as
the
genetically-modification
technology
appears,
food
produced
in
this
way
may
lead
to
s
ome
potential
harm
to
people’s
health.
According
to
some
medical
researches,
the
food
that
is
not
naturally cultivated may change the organization of certain genes of human, and thus influence the normal
growth of human body. As a consequence, the safety of food nowadays is not as reliable as that in the past.
Taking all the reasons above, people’s diet structure is healthier in the past for they do not have to eat food
containing pesticides, genetically modified, or mostly fried.
Some people think that bicycle is the best way to travel from place to place. Discuss the advantages
and disadvantages of the bicycle.
Nowhere are bikes more widely used than in China. About 300 million bikes are being used daily around
the country, mainly for transport purposes. Indeed, I would certainly cycle to work if I lived nearer to my
workplace.

Riding a bike contributes to our health. At the very least, cycling burns calorie. In fact, it does much more.
Cycling helps to train our eye-hand-feet coordination and sharpens our sense of balance. It is easy to learn
and not physically demanding. It is probably the best sport for overweight people. Besides, the air will be a
lot cleaner if more people choose to use bikes instead of cars. Bicycle is the most environment-friendly
means of transport except for walking, which has the intolerable downside of being too slow. Actually, due
to traffic congestion, cycling is often the quickest way to reach your destination. Apart from being clean
and quick, cycling is safe. This means safety for us and others. In light of the actual speed at which a bike
usually travels, the likelihood of a collision with pedestrians and fellow cyclists is minimal. Even in the
event of such an accident, people involved usually get away with a few scratches at the worst.

Having said that, a more critical rider may find a bike less than satisfactory. For example, it can’t shield
against rain
or dust;
the saddle is
often uncomfortable. Besides,
bikes are unfit for long distance travel.
After all, most people ca
n’t ride more than 20 miles at a stretch.

Taken
all
together,
the
bicycle
is
indeed
a
brilliant
human
invention.
Unlike
many
other
devices,
bike
reinforces our reliance on ourselves both physically and mentally. This never fails to fascinate me.
