Sometimes

practical-minded

people

miss

the

point

o f

pure

science

in

thinking

only

of

its

immediate

application

for

economic

rewards.

Chemists

responsible

many

of

the

could

hardly

have

anti cipated

that

their

findings

< p>would

one

day

result

in< /p>

applications

of

such

a

practical

nature

as

those

directly

related

to

life< /p>

and

death.

The

discovery

of

one

bit

of

informa tion

opens

the

door

to

the

discovery

of

another.

Some

discoveries

seem

so< /p>

simple

that

one

is

a mazed

they

were

not

ma de

years

ago,

however

one< /p>

should

remember

that

the

construction

of

the

mic roscope

had

to

precede

the

discovery

of

the

cell.

The

host

of

scientists

dedicating

their

lives

to

pure

science

are

not

apologetic

about

ignoring

the

practical

side

of

their

< p>discoveries,

they

know

fro m

experience

that

most

kno wledge

is

eventually

applied.
