teenagers need healthy eating.

healthy eating is very important to us teenagers. however,

some of us often eat snacks or other unhealthy food, and

some take in either too little or too much nutrition every day.

besides, many of us teenagers often go to school without

breakfast.

all this has a bad effect on our growth. we may even suffer

from different illnesses after we grow up. i think we should

give up our bad eating habits if there is any. we had better not

eat or eat less unhealthy food like hamburgers. instead, lets

eat more healthy food like fruit and vegetables.

recently we have had a heated discussion on whether people

should keep pets at home in cities.

some students think its a good idea to keep pets because

many old people who live alone at home can get some comfort

from pets. besides, getting along well with animals will make

our life interesting.

however, the other students dont agree to the idea. in their

opinions, if too many people keep pets at home, it is bad for

the environment. what is worse, pets may make too much

noise and even hurt people. in addition, it costs a lot of money

to keep pets.

i like animals, so i dont think its bad to keep pets at home. but

we must take some measures to prevent them from polluting

our environment.

smile is an attitude to life. in our life, there may be something

unpleasant. for example, if you fail in an exam, you may feel

very sad; or another time, if you are misunderstood by your

friends, you may be in bad mood. these unpleasant things may

happen in our daily life from time to time.

then what will you do? why not learn to smile? smiling to

yourself can bring back your confidence. sometimes, the

greatest enemy is yourself; thats to say, sometimes, you are

beaten by yourself. we should also learn to smile to others. it

will help us to get closer to others.

smile is the most widely understood language. so smile at the

world and it will smile back.

recently, terrible drought has prevailed(

provinces and cities of our country. the local people have no

enough drinking water. the short of water seriously affects

their daily life. it is said the drought has much to do with the

greenhouse effect, which is caused by air pollution. so, we

should stop polluting the air right away.

we have learned a lot from this drought. earth is our home. to

prevent the earth is to protect ourselves. from now on, we

should take actions to stop and prevent other disasters

happening. for example, we should save water and protect the

forests from being cut down; we also should plant as many

trees as possible.

how should we protect/ save our environment/ world?

the environmental pollution is more and more serious today.

we have no clean water to drink because of water pollution.

and when trees are cut down, some animals disappear. there is

more and more dirty smoke in the air. peoples health has been

greatly affected by air, noise and water pollution. many people

died of diseases. in order to live a better life, its time for us to

protect our world.

firstly, we should throw away rubbish everywhere. and we

should recycle, reduce and reuse things, for this saves money

and reduces pollution. use things as long as possible. dont

use plastic bags. also, we must plant more trees and stop

people from cutting them down. we hope our world will be

more and more beautiful.

dear editor,

im a student in junior three. we have made a survey---who do

you turn to when in trouble? here are the results.

58% of the students will go to their classmates or friends

when they are in trouble. theyre almost of the same age, so

they can talk with and understand each other easily. 30% of

them choose to tell their teachers or parents, who have rich

experience and love them very much, about their troubles and

ask for their help. 12% of them hate to talk with others and fail

to get on well with others, so they would like to solve their

problems all by themselves.

personally speaking, i prefer to work out problems myself.

however, we should learn when and how to ask others for help

in our daily life.

there will be a charity show called a warm family for all. the

show will be held at st. johns school. we are organizing the

show to raise money for our friends who have lost their

families. several months ago, a terrible flood washed away

many houses, and some of our friends lost their families. they

have become poor children without parents, and they will have

no money to go on with their studies.

we hope to raise money to help them go to school again.

tickets are

40 each. of course, donations are always

welcome. the show starts at 6:30 p.m. and finishes at 9:30 p.m.

there will be singing, dancing and poem reading. so it will be

great fun! we hope lots of people will come and help them.

finally, wed like to thank those who have donated time and

materials to help make the

show possible. we also want to thank out teachers for their

help and support.

at present only a few students do some reading after class.

here are several reasons.

first of all, quite a lot of students are burdened with too much

homework. still others havent formed a habit of reading. they

would rather spend their spare time on tv or on the internet.

however, reading has many benefits. though reading we can

learn more about the world. besides, it can help us think better.

last but not the least, reading can make our life more colourful.

here are my suggestions. for one thing, teachers are

supposed to limit the amount of our homework so that we can

have more time to read. for another, its a good idea to form

reading clubs and learn from each other.

at the beginning of the year, a campaign to be a good student

and a good citizen was launched in our school, and great

changes have taken place since then.

before the campaign, we used to be late for school and failed

to hand in our homework in time. we seldom greeted our

teachers and after class we made loud noises. worse still, we

jumped the queue when waiting for buses and scrambled for

seats on board.

however, the campaign has changed us a lot. we are no longer

late for school and are more careful in our homework. we have

learned to show respect for the elders, help others, wait in line

for buses and give up seats to other passengers.

the campaign is meaningful because it has helped us remove

many bad habits and become better students at school and

better citizens in society.

nowadays, with the development of the internet, there came a

kind of language called web language.

some people even speak chinese mixed with english words

such as pk etc.. this is a phenomenon worth thinking about.

40% of the students think it is a kind of ridiculousness. in their

opinions, it makes no sense in helping people communicate or

learn english. besides, it is against the chinese grammar rules.

however, 60% of the students are fond of this way. they

appreciate its humour. they think it has special help in

expressing themselves, and it can make the language varied.

personally, i dont think it good to use this kind of language. it

may be fashionable as some people think, but you may also

get your idea confusing, leaving other people at a loss to your

meaning.
