ladies and gentlemen,

i am honored to stand here to share with you on such a
important subject as climate ,it is global warming .

let me give you two phenomenons.

here is the first one. more and more people used to be using
air condition ，but how many people ever thought whether this
new ?hobby? will bring side-effects or not? maybe just few
people. in fact, the side-effect is apparent. the emissions of
gases exhausted from air conditioning contain a lot of
methane (这里可以停顿一下)which could cause global warming.
by the way, air conditioning will waste a lot of electricity .

the second one is about the increasing amount of cars.
according to the statistics, in 21st century, there are 7 millions
cars in the world, a large amount of exhaust gases has
seriously influenced us, such as: cough, throat inflammation.

this two phenomenons are just few part of reason which
change our environment badly. there are many other reasons.

in nearly 100 years, the average global temperature
experienced twice fluctuations which is “cold-warm-cold-
warm”. generally, it is the trend that global climate is becoming
warmer and warmer . in 1980s,global temperature rised
apparently. according to chinese scientists, the average
temperature in china has risen by 1.1 degrees

centigrade in the last 5 decades. it is higher than the reported
global average. we are seeing more frequent bouts of extreme
weather in many parts of the country. for example, last spring,
the most severe drought in 50 years hit northern china
affecting the livelihood of 4 million people. environmental
damage and climate change is a reality for us. out of the
world?s most polluted 20 cities, half are in china,70% of
chinese rivers are polluted . china has become the largest
carbon emitter of the world.

it is really thought- provoking（发人深省）. who pays for it ?
first,as the pace of human high-tech development process
goes quiker and quiker, the side-effects with the science
development reflected, global warming is one example. more

and more greenhouse gases with the development of economy
are being discharged into the 70% of the greenhouse
gases has been composed of carbon dioxide,which is
considered as one of the greatest causes of global warming . it
has harmful effects,causing the sea level to raise and many
natural disasters to strike. on the other hand , scientists in one
wave after another try to awaken us to the growing threat of
global many coutries tend to turn a deaf ear(充耳
不闻) to the scientists? fact,the earth?s atmosphere
is definitely being warmed and the problem is largely man-
made. a wise way is that we should get moving to protect
ourselves. so the public demand that all nations should taket
strong measures to prevent the increase of the earth?s
temperature.

in my opinion, it is the high time for us to take action. in order
to save the earth, we should try to do things below: no air
conditioning, use recycled paper,abandon meat food, don?t
use plastic bags,take a is little drops of long as
everyone takes action, it will be a powerful strength to rescue
our planet. all countries are supposed to take the legislative
initiative as soon as in this way can the global
warming be put under control.

and the low carbon life was mentioned firstly. we can
understand it as a lifestyle of reducing emission of carbon
dioxide and efficiently using resources. its purpose is to
appeal to us for protecting our environment.

definition

low carbon means a minimal output of greenhouse gas
emissions into the biosphere, especially refers to the green
house gas carbon dioxide (co2).which is the main cause of
global warming.

low carbon life means a kind of lifestyle in which people do
their best to reduce energy consumption and carbon
greenhouse gas emissions.

the concepts of low carbon life are no waste and low energy.

reason

because of the development of the world industrial economy,
the fast increase of population, the unlimited increase of the
human desire and the uestrained production and lifestyle, the
human living environment, health and safety are becoming
more and more worse, for example, the resources that people
reply on to survive dwindle, water pollution becomes worse,
the earths ozone layer suffers an unprecedented crisis and so
on .so, we can say, the high- consumption and high-pollution
economy model and life style is becoming the killer of the
earth and human beings.

therefore, low carbon life is needed by mans own health,
harmony between human beings and nature and the
development of mankind.

so the government has taken some measures to reduce the
pollution and develop new technology and new energy.

,in the 21st century, we also have many low carbon
technologies in our surroundings.

here, we can see many technologies examples.

first: the architecture.

-carbon concept prevails in the shanghai world expo. the
exterior curtain walls of the portugal pavilion are decorated
with walls of cork, a portuguese-sourced, recyclable and
environmentally friendly material,

even the exterior curtain walls of the switzerland
pavilion are made from soybean fiber, able to generate
electricity and naturally degrade

second : design

ng this year at london design week, these colorful
chairs from orchard studio provide a stylish solution for
seating on the go. constructed to be shipped flat-packed for
easy portability, it can be quickly assembled and disassembled
with little to no effort. and beyond their low carbon footprint,

these modern pieces forgo any flashy textiles, instead opting

england government has launched a roadmap outlining a
specific time frame for moving toward low carbon commercial
vehicle and construction equipment design and
the future, buses will need to be designed

everyone’s participation

eating

? reduce the use of disposable tableware, chopsticks , plastic
bags and use

handkerchiefs instead of paper towel;

? avoid ordering to much when eating out

? using waste heat to heat food in order to save energy

transportation

? choose walking or bicycling if the destination is at close
distance; ? try to use public transportations.

? choose to buy low- emission cars;

studying and working

? only print things out when necessary, and print double-
sided and reduce

the margins;

? for using computer : if you don’t use computer in a short
time, you should

change the computer into its sleep mode for reducing 50%
consumption . ? use efficient light which use about one-third
of the energy of normal light.

and the lights should be turned off when not needed. this will
greatly reduced electricity consumption.

conclusion

in short, low-carbon life, for us ordinary people, is an attitude,
not ability. we should promote and practice the low carbon
life, pay attention to energy saving, starting from little things.
we believe, so long as everyone can actively participate in it,
humanitys tomorrow will be better
