U1报 My Favorite Newspaper
I like reading newspaper very much. I read the Guangzhou Daily every day and it’s my
favorite newspaper.
It usually has seven sections, including headlines, local news, international news, cars, travel,
business, entertainment, etc. I like reading local news best because it’s talking about the things
and people around us. I also like the section of jokes. These funny jokes often make me relaxed.
If possible, I hope the Guangzhou Daily can have one more section about school life in
Guangzhou to make students here know each other and also let students around the world

我喜欢读报纸非常好。我每天读《广州日报》,这是我最喜欢的报纸。

U2 报 A Bank Robbery
Last Monday, a bank robbery took place on Jiaxing Road. A tall man entered the bank with a
gun and took away a lot of money in a bag.
The police soon caught a suspect. He was Jim Williams. At first, Jim denied robbing the bank.
He said that he was watching TV at his friend’s home at the time of robbery.
However, one of the bank customers took a photo of Jim. It showed him robbing the bank.
At last, Jim admitted his crime and went to jail.

U3 航 My Choice of Laptop
I’m going to buy a laptop. Which one is better, Hedy or Hasee?
Hedy is a little heavier than Hasee, but Hasee has a smaller screen. However, Hedy can hold
more information than Hasee because it has a larger hard disk. As a student, it’s not very
important for me to have a larger hard disk. Though the memory of Hasee is smaller than Hedy,
the price of Hedy is one thousand yuan more than Hasee.
According to all the information, I prefer to buy Hasee.
我打算买一台笔记本电脑。哪一个比较好,Hedy或Hasee吗?
Hedy有点重得多,但Hasee Hasee有一个小屏幕上。然而,Hedy可以存储更多的信息 比Hasee因为它

Archimedes is one of the most famous scientists in the world. He lived in ancient Greece. He

One of his famous stories is that he found a way to work out the problem: the king’s crown
was not made completely of gold.
In my opinion, Archimedes is a very clever man. He found that some of the water would
move out when people put an object in water. The bigger the object was, the more water it
would displace. His idea is so useful that we still use it today.

The kangaroo is one of the most famous animals in Australia. Like many other animals, they
have four legs. Their forelegs are quite small but they have strong and powerful hind legs, so they
are very good at jumping. They can jump more than 10 metres at a time. Mother kangaroos have
pouches in front of their stomachs and their babies stay in their pouches for a year. Kangaroos
often live in groups and they usually find food at night. Plants are their favourite food. Kangaroos
are lovely animals. Don’t you think so?

him stay up late in order to write articles.
He tells me that a reporter needs to have many skills. He should be interested in different
things. Also, he should be rather friendly. More importantly, he should read more and write well.
I like travelling and writing. And I can get on well with different people. I hope I can be a
reporter like my uncle. Therefore, I must learn more at school now.

As we know, our Earth is in danger. There are different environmental problems, especially
the air pollution.
The atmosphere around our Earth is keeping too much heat because people are polluting it
with chemicals in the form of gases. Factories and cars give out a lot of black smoke. People cut

down and burn trees. The polluted air can cause serious health problems.
In order to fight air pollution, we ought to plant more trees because they can take in harmful
gases. We should try our best to protect the environment around us.

I’m very glad to be invited to the English winter camp.

English lectures. I think I can learn more English and get more information on western culture from them. With
the coming of the 2010 Asian Games, more and more foreigners are eager to (渴望) know about China.
Therefore, I hope to teach foreigners Chinese.

Could you organize a tour around the city during the camp so we can relax ourselves as well as study?
