九月新生进校,我又看见许多父母的脸。
送儿
女来上学的以父亲居多,
有些是父母同来,
父母们本来千差万别的脸,
< p>个人
化特征在此时得到淡化而呈现出相同的气质:劳碌、疲惫,初到异地的怯懦,和
谨慎,以及其情甚殷,惟恐儿女吃亏的心态。
那样长而累人的旅途,那样繁琐耗人的手续,太能磨蚀人的锐气了。

子,
少年得志的喜悦与轻狂,
自下车起一点点没了,
跟在父母身后,
满校园地跑,
每办一项手续都得走很多路,问很
多人,父母到处陪着笑脸。到处排队,到处要
钱。
太阳如此毒辣,
衣衫都湿透,
买因奇货可居而昂贵的水解渴,
坐在路边暂歇。
< p>随你平时是多么风度翩翩的人,此时都不得不卑躬、隐忍,茫然不知所措,处处
陪笑。只为了儿女的顺当。
我看见一位扛巨大铺盖卷的父亲,
p>
肩背上的重负使他低头,
眼睛却吃力地向上看,
因为要看路。
他的儿子低着头,只挎了个小包,跟在后面……用不了多久,这男
孩子就会帮女生扛包了
。
在三岔路口,
一对父子相携而行。
他 们一看就来自困苦的农村,
父子都穿着很廉
价的
T
恤,
一式样的平头,
父亲的头发已花白了,
身材比儿子更 瘦小,
皮肤黝黑。
一辆霸道的的士飞驰而来,
那老父躲来 躲去,
险些给它撞上,
不得已跟儿子分开。
等车驶过,父
子又会合,相依为命地继续前行。
我看得几乎泪落。
Taking Children to College
It’s September now. Again, I see many
parents take their children to
college.
Fathers mostly perform this duty. Small
minority of students are
accompanied
by
their
fathers
and
mothers.
At
this
moment,
all
the
parents,
whose
faces
usually
differ
from
each
other
in
some
ways,
display
the
same
expressions: fatigue, timidity and
cautiousness of a newcomer, and the
concern and fear that their offspring
might be treated unfairly.
Such long
and exhausting journeys to college! So many
complicated and
time-consuming
procedures
to
complete
the
enrollment!
They
corrode
those
strangers'
drive and verve. The delight and conceit usually
found in
eighteen-year-old youngsters,
who've just passed college examination,
disappear gradually after the new
arrivals reach the destination. Being
accompanied
by
their
parents,
these
teenagers
go
through
the
formalities
from place to place
in the campus. They have to walk long distances
and
ask
many
questions
of
many
people
to
complete
one
registration
procedure,
and
their
parents
have
to
smile
politely
all
the
time
during
the
process.
Everywhere
they
have
to
line
up
to
pay.
The
sun
being
scorching
hot,
they
are
pouring
with
sweat.
Then
they
sit
at
the
roadside
for
a
rest
and
satisfy
their
thirst
by
drinking
bottled
mineral
water
whose
prices
soar
because
of scarcity.
No matter
how dignified and
honorable one may
look, one has
to, for the sake of one's children, be
humbled, keep one’s temper, and
show
one's best smiles to find out what to do.
