【题目】
很多高中生不爱读课外书，请写一篇文章，分析原因并给出建议。
【范文】
The recent decade has witnessed a(an) extraordinary phenomenon that the middle
school students extremely don’t like to read books other than their text books. For
example, we would rather sleep, watch TV or play computer games than read some
novels, magazines or newspapers. From my perspective, it is undoubtedly harmful
for them to do so.
最近十年已经见证了一个不同寻常的现象中学生极端不喜欢读书除了 他们的教科书。例如，
我们宁愿睡觉、看电视或者玩电脑游戏，也不愿意读一些小说、杂志或报纸。在我 观点看来，
这件事是毫无疑问地有害对于他们去这么做。
As for the reasons, first and foremost, we modern individuals are sometimes so
busy, as well as lazy, that we are not available to acquire new
knowledge. Additionally, we human beings are, normally, too proud to
understand the true meaning of study. Last but not least, more often than not, we
find that it is the lack of true belief and faith that lead to countless troubles like this
one.
至于理由呢，首先也是最重要的一件事，我们当代人有时候如此的忙碌又懒惰，以至 于我们
没空获取新知识。更进一步而言，我们人类，正常而言，太骄傲以至于不能理解真正的意义
学习的。最后但不是最不重要的事儿，经常，我们发现正是真正信念与信仰的缺失...导致
了无尽的 麻烦像这个一样。
Practical and effective measures must be put into practice immediately to improve
the current situation. For one thing, it is beneficial for us to be as modest as
possible, so that we are always ready to learn new things. For another, it is high
time that we set a goal for our own reading. With these suggestions carried out, a
much brighter future would be not only possible but inevitable.
实际且有效的措施必须被执 行立刻去改善当前的情况。一方面，这件事是有益的对于我
们去尽可能谦虚以便我们总是准备好去学习新 东西。另一方面，真的到了我们设定一个
目标对于我们自己的阅读的时间了。伴随着这些建议被执行，一 个更加光明的未来将不但
是可能的，而且是不可避免的。

假设你是李华，你想在我市搞一个读书会（reading club）活动。写信给市长（mayor），
说明你的目的和理由。

【范文】
Dear Mayor,

How are you doing? I am LiHua, a 17-year-old teenager currently studying in a high
school, who is crazy about reading. Recently, I learned in your micro-blog that you
would like to cultivate your citizens’ interests and broaden our horizons. So, I am
writing to suggest a reading club be held in our city.

As for the reasons, for one thing, reading is undoubtedly both meaningful and
entertaining, considering that it will enable us to know more about ourselves,
about others and about the society. For another, it can teach us how to face
challenges, overcome difficulties, achieve our goals and realize our
dreams;accordingly, it is beneficial for our physical and mental health.

Hopefully, my suggestion would be helpful for you. I have the confidence that not
only our communication ability but also our interpersonal skills can be polished
and thus improved through this activity. I am looking forward to your wise decision.

【范文】
Dear Alvin,

How are you doing? Recently, I have received your last letter asking me about my
view on the smog in China. Now, I am writing to tell you what I think.

There are three main reasons accounting for this. First and foremost, it is obvious
that we modern individuals are sometimes so busy, as well as lazy, that we are not
available to give our the environmental protection a second thought; consequently,
the smog is becoming increasingly heavy. Additionally, more often than not, we
find that it is the lack of true belief and faith that leads to countless troubles in our
society like this one. Last but not least, no one can deny we human beings are,
normally, too proud to understand the true meaning of the nature, which has
already affected the relationship between us and the mother earth.

Hopefully, all of us would realize the significance of the environmental protection,
so that we can, again, enjoy the deep blue sky, the songs of birds and the fresh air
in the near future. I have confidence that my dream will come true.
