The Courage of
Never Giving Up
Life is a long journey like a sealed book which is full of unknown and indeterminacy. In this
journey you decide the direction
and hold on it. However, sometimes life can place
a stumbling
block in your way. At this
moment, you need courage to keep going and never
give up.
There goes a saying that
“
It doesn
’
t take guts to quit. Anyone can quit. And most people do ---
on
their
dreams
and
on
themselves.
It
’
s
always
easier
to
quit
than
to
hold
on.
”
Definitely,
confronted with difficulty, it is
always easier to give up than to hold on. But,
constant effort yields
sure
success.
If
you
pursue
your
goals
with
courage
of
never
giving
up,
you
will
succeed
in
whatever
endeavor you take on. Life is just like farming,
and what you can reap depends a lot on
your sowing and dedication. Therefore,
keep going forward, even in the toughest time,
never give
up and take courage. This
courage determines you a winner or a loser.

……
On
Catchwords
Catchwords are novel descriptions, which enjoy great popularity among the public and possess
the ability of spreading. They can be
applied to depict everything, including mindset,
state, and
people. Therefore,
increasingly more catchwords have been appearing
at the speed far faster than
we expect.
There
has
always
been
great
dispute
as
for
the
popularity
of
catchwords.
For
some
people,
catchwords reflect the development of
language and information technology, which stands
for the
improvement of the whole
society; while for others, they are of the
opinions that catchwords are
vulgar and
momentary, which can have no positive effect on
the society.
Personally
speaking,
catchwords
conform
to
the
trend
of
the
historical
development
under
certain circumstance, which cannot be
eradicated. Besides, some catchwords do
demonstrate the
younger
generation
’
s creativity and sense of humor.

My View on the
Luxuries
Currently, almost two-thirds of global luxury brands can be purchased in China. According to
a report, the total consumption in
the country accounted for a quarter of the global
market share
and ranked second in the
world in terms of luxury commodity consumption
after Japan.
China
’
s
appetite
for
luxuries
is
growing
faster
than
that
of
any
other
country.
As China has
achieved
new
heights
in
its
economy
and
recently
entered
an
era
of
mass
consumption,
the
purchasing
power
of
Chinese
citizens
is
rising
along
with
the
development
of
the
commodities
economy. Therefore,
it is inevitable that people who pursue material
life will buy luxuries as long
as they
can afford.
However, in regard to the consumer attitude, a large number of Chinese consumers are still in
the
stage of
“
conspicuous consumption
”
, which is unhealthy. Luxuries should not be the way of
showing off or signs associated with
power, wealth and social ties. In my opinion, it
should be the
pursuit of a better, more
dignified and high-quality life with a healthy
mentality.

Should
Offering Seats Be Compulsory for Young Bus Riders?
These days, whether it should become compulsory for young bus riders to conduct good deeds
on bus,
like giving up seats to needy people, has become a
topic of debate.
Some people believe it is just basic good manners for young people to offer their seats to the
elderly, the pregnant and the so-
called
“
weak
”
groups. It is nothing but maintenance of high moral
standards. On the contrary, other
people say young people pay the same fare as other
riders, and
therefore have no
obligation to give up their seats. It is in nature
a moral rather than a legal issue.
For my part, I think such good deeds as giving up seats to needy people is truly necessary, but
the precondition
is that one does this out of true willingness.
Only when good deeds are based on
good
will are the good deeds meaningful.

Associations on Campus
Nowadays,
there
are
various
associations
on
campus,
with
association
activities
being
an
indispensable part of college
students
’
life.
Associations
do
have
many
advantages
which
hold
appeal
for
college
students.
Firstly,
association activities can enrich
college students
’
life. Whatever they are interested in, they can
find
relevant associations, such as calligraphy
association or paining association. Secondly, they
can get acquainted with many friends
with similar interests in associations. Thirdly,
the experience
gained in associations
may pave the way for their upcoming career
development. Take a friend of
mine as
an example: since she was a pupil, she has set her
mind to be a journalist. She joined the
photography association of the
university and the skills as well as experience
she gained there are
of great help for
her later job-hunting. Finally her dream came
true.
In my opinion, association is to college students what salt is to food. They can not only add
flavor to our college life, but may
also provide us a passport to a bright future.
