I am happy to join with you today in
what will go down in history as the
greatest demonstration for freedom in
the history of our nation.

great American, in whose symbolic shadow we stand
today, signed the Emancipation

condition.

our nation's capital to cash a check.

hope that the Negro needed to blow off steam and
will now be
content will have a rude
awakening if the nation return to business as
usual.

But there is something that

of justice: in the process of gaining our
rightful place, we must be not guilty
of wrongful deeds.

rise to the majestic heights of meeting physical
