before, we had had a class meeting to discuss what we would do. After a heated discussion, we had
decided togot to a senior citizens home to do something for the elderly.
On March 5

, we set our early in the mornig. As soon as we got to the senior citizens home, we
first did a thorough cleaning. Some swept and mopped the floor. Some cleaned the windows and the
others did some washing. An hour later, the rooms in the senior citizens home looked clean and tidy.
And then we were divided into two groups. One group gave wonderful performances that the elderly
enjoyed a lot, the other group taught those who were interested in English some daily English
expressions. All the elderly had a good time with us. When lunch time came we had to say good-bye
to them.
We’ve really learned a lot from what we did. We also realize that we can make ourselves useful
to those who need help and care.

Today we went to climb XinagshanMountain.
Early in the morning we met at the school gate and went there by bus. At nine o’clock we

arrived at the foot of the mountain and started climbing. The mountain was very high and some of
us got tired soon, but all of us were very excited. We cheered happily when we got to the top. The
view was wonderful. We had our lunch there and enjoyed ourselves very much. Unfortunately when
we began to walk down the mountain, we were caught in a storm. Faced with unexpected situation,
our teacher remained calm, asking us to help each other down. So we shared our umbrellas and
raincoats with each other and walked more cautiously. Finally we all reached the parking lot safely
and got on the bus heading back home.
Despite the unexpected rain and wind, we still had a good time.


In the picture, we can see a man picking apples. But in order to pick the apples, he cuts down the
tree.
The picture wants to tell us that whatever we do, we shouldn’t only focus on what we are doing
at present. If we neglect our future, we’ll end up in failure. Just like the man in the picture, although
he can get apples this time, he will never get fruits from the tree again.
The picture reminds me of the environmental problems. If we pay no attention to the
environment just in order to earn more money now, how can we live a happy life in the dirty
surroundings? So try to think about our future when doing things.

Low – carbon Living

Recently, my classmates and I participated in the activity of Low – Carbon Living organized by the
WWF. On the first day, we chose to go to school by bike or on foot rather than by bus or car. Before
we left the classroom, we made sure the lights and the computer were switched off. In order to make
full use of paper, we began to write on both sides. Besides, while shopping, we no longer used plastic
bags but carried environmentally friendly ones.
I think what we did on that day was meaningful, which can help us to form a good habit. We should
also call on the people around us to do something for low – carbon living. Only in this way will the
earth be a good place to live on.

As can be seen in the picture, there is a small spot on the table while a man is looking at it with a
magnifier. Through the magnifier, the spot seems bigger and clearer.
The picture has a reflection in our daily life. The spot is just like a person’s strongpoint or weak point.
If we enlarge one’s strongpoint, we may recognize it and can find something worth learning from the
person. On the contrary, if his weak point is always focused on, he will feel discouraged, which
prevents him from making progress . In my opinion, we should make it clear where it magnifier is
used and what can be enlarged.

<一>Recently the student union conducted a survey on whether recycling dustbins should be set
in classrooms.
As can be seen from the pie chart, different students hold different opinions on this program.
Only a few students care little about it. Surprisingly, about one third of students are totally against
the program. They don’t bother to change their old habits. However, over half the students are
completely for the program, as it is not only beneficial to recycling of resources, but also it can help
students develop their good habits of garbage classification. Besides, 12% of the students partly
agree. They hold the opinion that educating people on how to classify the garbage goes first.

Personally, I’m in favor of this program. I believe it’s important to raise people’s awareness of
garbage classification,from which we will get considerable benefits for the future.


二、In the picture, there is a cup, which is usually presented to the winners in sports
competitions. The cup is definitely a symbol of great success. But what makes me puzzled is that a
magnifying glass is used to see its light scratch on the cup, which is not at all obvious.
What I see in this picture reminds me of people who use a magnifying glass to see the faults in
others. Those people are usually very demanding and picky. They only see the “scratches” instead of
the whole cup. As we all know, everyone has both strengths and weaknesses. Therefore, we should
be objective about others’ achievements rather than find faults with them on purpose. Only in this
way can harmony be achieved and conflicts be avoided.

Dear Peter,
How have you been recently? I'm writing to tell you something about our inquiring learning
on the rare animal—golden monkeys．
The students of our class were divided into two groups．One group went to the local zoo to
observe the features of golden monkeys．After that,, the group went to the library to collect some
information about the monkeys' behavior．In the meantime, the task for the other group was to surf
the internet for the exact number of the living golden monkeys．Besides, an expert was invited to
introduce what we could do to protect this kind of monkeys．At last, we gathered she information we
got and produced a report．
I think we benefited a lot from the inquiring learning．Not only did we know how to
cooperate with others but also we find a new way of learning．

satisfied with himself, thinking he is perfect．
I think the picture conveys a message vividly．Even if one receives a lot of praise, he must
be clear-headed, or he'll be lost in it．The man in the picture doesn't realize that he still has much to
improve, which probably prevents him making more progress．As the saying goes, pride goes before
the fall．So I think one shouldn't be too proud in face of success．
