you suffer from sleep deprivation.
a good night’s sleep can make people feel refreshed and full
of
energy,while it may also cause temporary mental
problems.
sleep deprivation can cause
stress, loss of appetite and
lethargy(
懒惰
). sleep deprivation may affect the immune
system capabilies.
in a word ,sleep is very important for
us to function well in life
and work
.so we should have a healthy lifestyle and keep
good
habit of sleeping.

life, one third of the time is spent in sleep.
without
normal
sleep, we cannot sustain other life activities.
sleep can refresh
our minds and improve
memory ability. ensuring adequate
sleep
time and sleeping efficiently is vital for
learning and
working.
we sleep every day, but rarely think
deeply about it. sleep can
be divided
into two periods: rapid-eye-movement sleep (rem
sleep) and non-rapid eye movement sleep
(non-rem sleep). the
former can protect
the brain, relieve emotions and restore
energy, while the latter can eliminate
fatigue, restore physical
strength,
enhance immunity, recovery body capacity and
promote growth and
development.
what sleep can
bring us? perhaps the answer is not very clear.
however, if we put this question in
turn, what if we do not sleep
well,
then the answer can be surprisingly obvious, or
maybe
not obvious but
surprising.
today, people
are faced with a variety of pressures in life.
students must complete their studies;
workers have to
complete their work, so
sometimes people have to stay up late.
all these can take up sleep time. the
results do harm to our
health severely
and may even threat the safety of
others.
studies show that
lack of sleep can damage our attention,
alertness,
concentration of mind, reasoning and problem-
solving
abilities, which easily lead to
injuries and accidents.
furthermore,
sleep debt can increase the risk of

diseases. for instance, among insomniacs, the
morbidity of heart
disease, hypertension, stroke,
diabetes and etc. is higher than
normal
people. in addition, lack of sleep and sleep
disorders
can also lead to depression,
cutis laxa(the skin relaxation) and
pachulosis(rough skin). interestingly,
lack of sleep can
enhance peoples sense
of hunger. data show that people sleep
less than five hours a day are more
closely related with obesity
even the
risk of death. and both american and chinese
official
data show that fatigue driving
caused by sleep deprivation has
been a
global road safety problem. unfortunately, the
fact is
different with a lot of peoples
misunderstanding that a few
hours of
sleep after staying up late cannot make up
actually.
in many cases,
sleep deprivation is caused by our subjective
wills.
however,
there are many objectively pathological changes
can
make us
sleepless or persistent sleepy. in physiological
aspects , it can
be caused by abuse of
drugs, alcohol and other substance,
periodic leg movement(

restless legs syndrome(

), cerebral degeneration(

hyperthyroidism

excitement, grief or fear. under normal
circumstances,
sleep deprivation will
self-cure in few days or weeks. if it not,
please pay more attention on that,
because long term sleep
debt can lead
to anxiety, depression and chronic insomnia.
now scientists believe that

so, how can we have a healthy sleep?
here are a few
suggestions.
firstly, we should decide sleep time
according to our own
situation.
everybody have different need of the quantity of
sleep. it is
depended on our different
health condition, nutritional status
and labor intensity. of
course,
some people can
live pretty well without regular life, but if that
make your body occur disorders, please
understand that is not
suit for
you.
mean the quieter the
better, some light music is really helpful.
when it comes to the illumination, the
darker the better is in
point. because
light will reduce the secretion of melatonin(

which can promote sleep during night. so, keeping
curtains totally closed and turning off
all lights are useful tips
to have a
good sleep.
then, bear this in minds, don’t drink coffee, wine and food not
easy to
digest before bedtime as well as don’t eat too much in dinn
er.

in four hours before bedtime.

) and meditation(

) under the guidance
of a doctor.
in
conclusion, we live in a society fulfilled with
pressures and
difficulty. it is not
easy to sleep without any worry, when
almost everyone tries so hard to expand
the width of life by
staying up late.
then, how about the length of life? how about
the quality of life? do you really
think career success is more
valuable
than happy family time and healthy
life?
moreover, life is
long, what you want desperately time will
give to you
some day. so don’t be so impatient, before we devote
ourselves to do
something big, let we learn how to
have a healthy sleep first.
