I'm grateful that I've been given this opportunity
to stand here as a spokesman. Facing all of you on the
stage, I have the exciting feeling of participating in
this speech competition. The topic today is WHAT WE
CANNOT AFFORD TO LOSE. If you ask me this question, I
must tell you that I think the answer is a word----
responsibility.
In my elementary years, there was a little girl in
the class who worked very hard, however she could never
do satisfactorily in her lessons. The teacher asked me
to help her, and it was obvious that she expected a lot
from me. But as a young boy, I was so restless and
thoughtless, I always tried to get more time to play
and enjoy myself. So she was always slighted over by
me.
One day before the final exam, she came up to me
and said,

together. Not surprisingly, she again did very badly

nine years old at that time, in a way, it was the very
starting point of my life, for I began to understand

a matter of seconds. Society is becoming more
competitive.
Yet we still face a lot of problems. We learn that
crimes take place in broad daylight with crowds of
people looking on and not assisting. We hear that there
are still about 1 million children in this country who
can't even afford to go to elementary schools while
enormous sums of money are being squandered away on
dinner parties and luxury cars. We buy shoddy medicines,
or merely
worthless junk. Many people believe, is the most
important thing in the world that must be made, even
at the expense of morality and responsibility.
Today’s society determines that we are a generation
with a keener sense of competition and efficiency and
a greater readiness to think critically and act
creatively. BUT, we all forget there is a most important
thing is our responsibility, a responsibility to the
society, a responsibility to our family, even a
responsibility to ourselves. If we lose this thing that
we will change into that person we once hate it.

Probably I'll be an ordinary man for the rest of
my life. But this doesn't discourage me any, for I know
that with my sense of responsibility and devoted
efforts to always strive, for the best, it's going to
be a meaningful and worthwhile life that I will be
living.
Standing here now, I also remember my
responsibility. Today, I must finish my speech, and
tomorrow, I must study hard for myself. We cannot evade
the responsibility, and we cannot let people down. So,

doubt that we are too small to be noticed. Nevertheless
I do believe that a little sparks may kindle a great
fire. If each of us knows how to live in peace of others

Responsibility, it seems to be cold like a rock,
a burden. But when we step into the society,

The teacher asked me to help her, and it was obvious
that she expected a lot from me. but as a young boy,

restless, thoughtless, I always tried to evade her so
as to get more time to enjoy day before the final exam,
she came up to me and said,

I started explaining, and finished in a hurry.

in the exam. And two months later, at the beginning of

Delicacy Management. We all know that working at
project department take no any holiday, every workmates

Now that you’re done doubting yourself, stop
doubting others. You don’t like when people are
critical of you, so stop being critical of others. Think
about how you make other people feel – even if you have
good intentions, people don’t like hearing negativity.
现在你不要再 怀疑自己了，也别再怀疑身边的人。你不
希望被人对你挑剔，那么也不要再去挑剔身边的人。想想你给别人带来的什么样的感受吧——即使出发点是好的，别人

stagnant. Whatever you’re putting off doesn’t go away;
resolve the problem, and move on. You’ll be much happier

s no need to pile on by purposefully doing mean things,
so make a conscious effort to stop being mean. If
someone wrongs you, let it go. There’s no need to seek
vengeance unless that’s the type of person you want
to be.
无意踩到别人的情况真的有可能会发生 ——常常会发
生。但没必要去处心积虑的做一些不好的事情，所以要有意
识地让自己不要那么刻 薄。如果有人对你无理地对待，随他

5 – Stop Eating Out
不要在外吃饭
Eating out is the biggest waste of money. Every so
often it’s nice to treat yourself, but eating out for
every meal is the quickest way to drain your bank
account. Learn how to cook at least a handful of foods
you enjoy: It’ll save you money, keep you healthier,
and occasionally impress people.
在外面吃饭真的非常非常的浪费钱。也许每次对于你而
言都是一次犒赏，但每顿都在外面吃反而是花光积蓄的最快
方式。至少也去学学怎么做一些自己喜欢的菜 ：既能省钱，

6 – Stop Being Lazy

Lazy people are annoying – it’s like pulling
teeth getting
them to do anything. If I can’t do something as
simple as going to a movie with you without having to
factor in an hour of convincing you to get your lazy
butt out of bed, I’d rather go alone. People have enough
trouble motivating themselves; don’t make your friends

and family waste their valuable energy motivating you
as well.
懒人真的很招人烦——得像赶驴磨墨一样逼着他们做

7 – Stop Complaining

We all have problems, and sometimes we need to vent
to someone. That’s acceptable, but pay attention to
how often you’re venting. We all love helping our
friends and family, but when all you get from someone
is negativity, it’s easier to cut them off than help,
especially if they’re always complaining about the same
things.

As a citizen with a sense of social responsibility,
one should mainly possess the following characters—
sticking to the right moral proposal or truth; sticking
to the principle of justice; hoping to make dedication
and sacrifice for others.
Nowadays, less and less people have a sense of
social responsibility and they hardly take it into
consideration. What a pity! Our country is really big,
but not strong enough. As we all know, a country’s
prosperity has a close relationship with people’s
social responsibility. If we don’t have a strong social
responsibility, how can we Chinese beat back the
Japanese aggressors and liberate our country How can
we conquer natural disasters In contrast, because of
the lack of social responsibility, people are not as
honest as they are once and this causes the appearance

In our human history, there are so many people with
strong social responsibilities, from Confucius to Marx
and Engels, from Einstein to Hawking. Each of them has
made a great contribution to the development of society

We praise those people have a strong social
responsibility and we also criticize those who don’
t. Nevertheless, it is better for us to take actions
from our own. No matter how important the thing is, we
should always do it with strong responsibility.
If every citizen on the earth presents a strong
social responsibility, we humans will not fight any
more and our world will be more harmonious, no poverty,
no starvation, and no AIDS. And if we Chinese have a
patriotic sense of social responsibility, people will
live more happily, our country will become stronger and
receive more respects from different foreign friends.
